Philips Hue 468942 Single Premium BR30 Smart Bulb Downlight for 5-6 inch recessed cans, 16 million colors (Hue Hub Required, Works with Alexa), Old Version, White and Color Ambiance

For better or for worse, Im outfitting most any bulb that makes sense in my house with Hue Color bulbs. Im up to a few more than 20 at the moment. They all work great and these new 3rd generation bulbs make fantastic colors. I use them for my outside lights, kitchen recessed lights, family room recessed lights, and a few light fixtures around the house. My house is pretty highly controlled with a SmartThings setup and every light switch in the house is smart. Plenty has already been said of the Hue bulbs so i wont go crazy on that. Instead, Ill just mention how Ive got mine set up. For the switches connected to fixtures with Hue bulbs in them, Ive got the wiring setup to bypass the switch so the bulb always has power and then the smart switch just tells the bulb to turn on/off. There is a slight delay when pressing the switch (since the command has to go through SmartThings, then to the Hue controller, then to the bulb), but it works well overall and removes the issue of people turning off the switch connected to a smart bulb. Overall, with 20 or so bulbs at $50 each under my belt, Id say Im a pretty satisfied customer. Wish the price was a bit lower (careful when buying the used bulbs - compare the generation) but, if they last like they are supposed to, itll even out in the end.

I assumed when i searched hue br 30 I would get the most recent bulb, but i was wrong. and when i tried to return the bulb i was charged for return shipping. deeply disappointing experience.

Amazing looking down lights, colors are nice and vivid. Will definitely purchase more in the future

Ended up getting 2 of these for my kitchen after getting the starter kit. You could probably get 20+ regular bulbs for that price, but man oh man is it worth the price.

Love these lights

These are awesome with google Home and a lot of fun. The color can’t be controlled with Alexa though. They can only be turned off and on and dimmed. If using Alexa you have to use the Philips app to change color schemes. Google Home can change the colors. Because of this we use our Alexa in the room that has the white Hue bulbs and the colored lights in the room with the google Home.

I started with one of these now a have too many. Haha. They are that good! Amazing purchase and a life changer!

Much better than my older generation 1 Hue bulbs. Does really good blues and greens which the gen 1 struggled with. Plan on eventually putting a dozen of these in my home.

Best gift I have ever gotten my wife. I have two of these lights that sit over my fire place and for Christmas I turned one on green and the other on red and it was beautiful. Also works great with the echo and echo dot. Recommend for everyone.

These bulbs are amazing. Just replaced all of the bulbs in our house with the Hue bulbs and can now control every room with Google Assistant and a Google Home device. The app is great as well at setting up scenes and schedules. I have the kitchen lights turning on in the am and off as we leave. Then they come back on at sunset with a different with a different scene. The kids love to use them and they are easy to set up. It would be nice to see these bulbs around $15 less. The cost is a little higher and to do an entire house it’s a big investment. Outside holiday lights are all set up as well. Having the ability to change one bulb orange and one green for Halloween is great. Red and green for Christmas and the Super Bowl teams in Feb is excellent. I highly recommend
