> 3 dayThis is quite possibly the best game to come out of the series since some of the originals. The story has some stumbles but overall has some rather interesting twists. The difficulty of the old games, while not back, is certainly looking to make a comeback as this is the most difficulty Ive had since my original Gold playthrough and Whitneys infamous Miltank. The PokePelago and removal of HM for Ride Pokemon are certainly welcome additions to the series and serve as a nice point to aid new players while giving veterans something to come back for (pelago) and fixing an issue many have had for years (Ride). Overall the game is technically well made, with only VERY obvious slowdown when in double or Totem battles due to the sprites on screen (though Ive heard this is better, but not gone, with the NEW 3DS models I cant confirm as I only own a regular XL). I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to get into the games or a veteran looking to come back, I certainly enjoyed the 33 hours I put in just beating the storyline.

> 3 dayIve played pokemon games for almost 10 years now and I can safely say, this may be one of the weakest in the series. They focused way too much on story and wouldnt let go of your hand, basically played the game for you and didnt open many possibilities for exploration compared to previous titles. Story is kind of mediocre, I didnt pay too much attention later on because I just wasnt interested. Lots of filler in there to make the story last longer too. Its a great game for kids who are new to the series I suppose or new to the pokemon games in general but for someone whos played a lot of pokemon, its not like the games previously but it doesnt change my view. Nontheless, I dont hate it, I dont like it. Its average. You cant go wrong with it, youll enjoy playing it anyway.

Greater than one weekIn my opinion, Sun and Moon have done a lot of things right, but ruin it by forcing you through what seems like a game-length tutorial. Ive been playing since RBY, so this is very frustrating - to the point I completely stopped playing for a week and wouldnt have continued if my GF didnt keep trying to get me to. I would give this game 3 stars, but my GF loves it and doesnt mind anything Ive griped about, so she would give it 5. Overall 4 stars from us. P.S. Ive beaten the game now and restarted (custom starters run), and its much better now that I know what to expect. Its not as grating as it used to be.

> 3 dayI havent beaten it yet, but I have logged in over 26 hours so far. I have to say that overall, I am really enjoying this generation. There are a lot of nice quality of life improvements to help make the gameplay better. The biggest would have to be the removal of HMs. No longer will I have to sacrifice a 6th slot for a HM Slave, nor teach HMs to my other members that I do not want there. The plot is decent, nothing mind-blowing or shocking, but a really nice addition to help move the game along. The Trials aspect is also something I really enjoy. Instead of gyms, you undergo trials that can be anything from seeking out certain pokemon, taking pictures, aiding someone in repairing a terminal, or even concocting a meal to lure out a pokemon. Its refreshing to not have to deal with the same setup: enter a gym, fight several trainers, then defeat gym leader. The new Z system is also really fun. I actually prefer this over mega evolution as it feels more natural and you seem more involved with your pokemon partner. Mega evolution is nice, but it just felt really out of place. With Z, you appear to encourage and boost your pokemon to unleash a unique attack related to their type. All in all, I absolutely love this game and I am extremely pleased with the new additions. Im considering buying Sun so I can have an excuse to keep playing once I clear Moon.

18-04-2025The game is definitely a low point for the Pokemon franchise. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE mega-evolution and Z-moves, I think the Alolan forms are 100% wonderful, I think Team Skull are the best antagonists since team rocket, and the Ultra Beasts are cool. I love so much in this game, but I still consider it basically unplayable. The core gameplay mechanic appears to be a mini game where you try to escape from conversations with random characters that you dont care about by pressing A as rapidly as you can. This mini game is repeated over and over again. I put 400 hours into White 2, another 200 into Y (which had similar problems as this one, but not as bad), and at least 100 into Omega Ruby (which despite the time I spent was far superior to X&Y), but I havent been able to make myself finish this one. Aside from my issues with the random cutscenes and monologues that the game is filled with, the actual game is very very easy. It feels like no trainer has even 3 pokemon in their party, and there are random people offering to heal you every ten feet. Dungeons (such as they are) are very short and nearly completely linear.

Greater than one weekThis Pokémon game really feels like a next step, its crammed with so many features, itd overwhelmingly exciting, nothing feels difficult to get into. If youre looking for a challenging game, Ive never felt any Pokemon game is challenging, and the same applies here. I would have given it 5 stars if they had further simplified how to get competitive Pokémon, they did introduce new mechanics to make IVs better, but you still have to farm natures, and spend time making different sets of the same Pokémon for the competitive scene, if you just want to have fun its an amazing game. If youre looking to get into its competitive side, just keep in mind you still have to spend a lot of time breeding, grinding EVs, getting the right nature, the right moves, and hidden abilities. Ill go ahead and update my review if I happen to find its much easier to go competitive.

Greater than one weekMoon version is quite fun to play. The story plot, while nothing deep, is quite entertaining and well thought, with some nostalgia for the old time players like myself. One downside, at least for me, is that the plot ends way too quick. Theres not much to be said about a Pokemon game. The game mechanics itself havent changed much in 20 years, besides some enhancements in the type system and some battle dynamics. It remains a great starting RPG and a challenging competitive platform offering PVP with players around the world.

> 3 dayThis game is probably one of my favorite Pokemon games. I love the story line that is more involved than many of its predecessors. It actually makes me feel like Im getting my moneys worth out of the game! The pokemon are just as cute in this one. I usually find in many Pokemon games that I go for the same old team in each one, but this one I ventured out and tried different pokemon. The festival plaza is one of my favorite things about this game, as well as Poke Pelago. I seriously could see myself playing this game even after I beat the main story line this time.

> 3 dayHavent played a Pokémon game for a very long time. Ordered this not thinking much of it. I havent even beaten it yet and its already one of my favorite games of all time. The changes to the Pokémon formula are very welcome and well done. The story is very good and has memorable and very well developed characters. I love the feeling of being the best trainer and destroying anyone that challenges me. If you are unsure about this. Its good for all ages. Theres tons of things to do in the game and the story has never gotten boring so far. I highly reccomend Pokémon Sun/Moon.
