Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield Double Pack - Nintendo Switch

With the amount of money we have pushed into this game series they are not trying to put it into our game play experience. Its sad honestly. But you will finish this game quickly and there is no real competitive play. I will not buy anymore Pokemon games.

It’s Pokémon..it is always good. Packaging was perfect, but the codes were messed up. Nintendo fixed that for me.

Obviously giving it a 1 star for attention: Has anyone else received the code for the pre-order item? I got mine but it doesnt appear to be recognized when I enter it for redemption section on my eshop account. Has anyone else had this issue and knows who to contact?

Just received my game and it was waiting on me after I returned home from my neurologist appointment. My fiance and I have been having a lot of fun playing it so far! The graphics are gorgeous for a Pokemon game.

I have been a pokemon fan for a long time, some may say too long, I have played almost all core pokemon games (except Black and White and their sequels) and have enjoyed them all. I got the double pack for my brother and myself, there are things I dont really like but arent game breaking or let downs. All in all if you enjoy pokemon youll at least like this new pokemon game. As for the competitive side....well I dont do competitive so I cant speak on that.

Great game, but I never got the gold leather case code. I got the email saying the code is working, but NEVER got the game code email from Amazon.

What all the kids are playing with and he immediately wanted to play it Christmas day.

Excellent product. I was obviously happy with the product. Nothing came damaged. The double pack is a great option for the avid pokemon player. The code for jangmo-o and larvitar are a great bonus. Highly recommend.

Biggest complaint people seem to have is that the game doesn’t have every Pokémon in it. Obviously it’s a matter of personal preference, but I don’t miss them that much. In addition, I think this is the best Pokémon game ever made. UI is fantastic, raids are cool, new Pokémon are amazing, and the battles are more balanced. Online communication could be better though.

So far, so good! (Will update review as I progress farther in the game) *** UPDATE *** Review below still stands. Here are some additional thoughts after I have played through quite a bit (I may still update further if anything else comes up): - Most importantly, this game is really fun and will hook you. There is lots to do and while you still have the one-town-at-a-time limitations from classic Pokemon games, you can catch far more Pokemon earlier than in the past. They add a catch-level limit in Sword & Shield similar to the control-level limit in past gens to keep you from becoming too powerful, too fast (i.e. With this badge you can catch pokemon up to level 20 vs. previously With this badge, pokemon up to level 20 will obey you), and thus they eliminate the obedience aspect. - It is worth subscribing to Switch online for this game. I have pretty much every game console and this is the first time Ive ever paid for an online subscription, but Im glad I did. You get TONS of free items, and half the fun is in trading with other trainers. However, you can still do local trades/battles if both players are using the same wifi network. I do like that theres an option that doesnt require the subscription. Also, Im not much of an online gamer as I dont tend to like playing with strangers, but I do enjoy other trainers help in the Raid Battles, as at the end you ALL get the chance to catch the Dynamaxed Pokemon, which is nice. - If you pre-ordered this set and have trouble redeeming your promotional code for the in-game bonus, ignore the instructions Amazon sent you about redeeming it via the Nintendo store, as that is incorrect and wont work: instead, click mystery gift from within in your game menu and input the code there. Voila! - This gen brings together some of the best elements of all the Pokemon games to date with a few really appreciated improvements: both my partner and I enjoy that you can see the Pokemon in the overworld (i.e. see them moving around in the tall grass) like in LGE/LGP and can thus avoid them if youre in a hurry, but Im glad they stuck with the classic catching mechanism. We are so relieved that you get the bike early in the game, and we LOVE the new portable box (so you can actually make use of more of the hundreds of Pokemon you catch by changing them out as you go along, as opposed to letting 98% of them sit in the PC because you dont want to walk all the way back to a Pokecenter). The Pokejobs (one thing only accessible via the Pokecenter PCs) is an interesting new way to train them up similar to Poke Pelago training in US/UM. I do miss the DexNav functionality from OR/AS, but being able to see most of them in the overworld helps cut down time spent hunting particular mon. **************** I have been a fan of the Pokemon games since the R/B/Y versions came out on GameBoy Color. A few days ago, I turned 30, so my present to myself (and my partner) is this double-pack of Pokemon Sword and Shield. We have really enjoyed playing some of the DS titles cooperatively, purchasing the alternating versions of the game - i.e. Alpha Sapphire for me, Omega Ruby for him - and trading Pokemon back and forth between our two 3DS systems. We actually went so far as to get a Switch Lite so we could play these games cooperatively on the Switch, as well. So far, both of us are very happy with the new titles. First of all, gameplay ought to be very familiar to fans of the previous Pokemon titles: battles are still your choice of switch or set style, turn-based, with 4 available moves to choose from per Pokemon. You still get 6 in your party. Catching, battling, and levelling up are still the same. Of course, Sword and Sheild introduce the new mechanisms of Dynamaxing and Gigantamaxing in Raid battles. In my opinion, this is not so dissimilar from the introduction of Mega-Evolutions, Z-moves, etc. in previous gen games. It is just the newest twist on the familiar trope. Furthermore, many players are concerned that some classic Pokemon from past gen games will not be available in Sword & Shield: while its always a disappointment to see your favourite mon no longer available, each gen has cherrypicked which classics will reappear in the new Pokemon region and which will not be catchable during normal gameplay. The difference with these titles is that players will also not be able to trade or transfer in unavailable Pokemon as was always possible on the 3DS titles. Personally, this has not impacted my enjoyment of Pokemon Sword so far; there are plenty of new Pokemon to play with, and I would not be surprised to see those missing classics reappear in future titles for 3DS or even Switch. One thing I noticed is that some of the in-game text (at least when played in English) is not thoroughly vetted for grammatical errors or incomprehensible wording. I anticipate that will be patched shortly, but for now, youll get occasional lines like, Wow, do you have flash new phone? (which makes no more sense in context than it does here) or You put the item back to your bag. Its a minor detail, but can take you out of gameplay for a second. Otherwise, the graphics are really lovely, the music is familiar and fun, and the story is just what Id expect from a Pokemon title. It translates well to the Switch environment. Personally, I play these games for nostalgia and fun: perhaps serious Pokemon trainers or competitors might find more objections to Pokemon Sword and Shield, but so far, I think theyre quite fun for the casual aficionado. Also, not sure if its just me, but I had an issue using the promotional code received from Amazon for the pre-order bonus of an in-game backpack. My code would not go through and instead gave me an error message. Theyre working to send me a new code, but it took quite a long time to get an Amazon representative to help me.
