Its always worth protecting your appliances and APC are the leaders for me. This smaller 6-outlet until feels very solid and comes with a higher protection rating that most others in the price group. For the piece of mind its money well spent.

It handles two gaming systems, a TV, a DVD player and a floor lamp effortlessly. Thats what I bought it for, thats what its doing. And very well. For now, 5 stars. Updates forthcoming as necessary.

Works decently as a power strip but my tablet wont charge as expected from the USB port. Propbably should have returned when I noticed this, but Im just sticking a spare power supply on a 110 line and calling it a day.

It looks good. The price is nice. It has a protection light to tell you if protection is working or not.

APC 6-Outlet Surge Protector 1080 Joules with USB Charger Ports, SurgeArrest (PE6U2) I Purchased two on 2017-11 for $9.88 each, and purchased one more on 2018-02 for a net price of $10.87 after coupon. This has a 500 Volt Voltage Protection Rating (VPR) across all 3 pair of conductors (Line to Neutral, Line to Ground, Neutral to Ground). Thats not as good as the best 400 V rating Ive seen on other surge protectors, but still good (Ive seen 600 and 800 V ratings also! Lower is better). There is no sticker on the back indicating its been independently tested to comply with UL 1449, so I assume its just designed to the 500 V level per UL 1449. On the back of the box it says APC recommends using the let-through voltage (ANSI C62.41) to determine a surge suppressors performance. I concur! Let-through voltage was renamed VPR in the 3rd edition of UL 1449 (Sept 2009). I agree that a low let-through or VPR voltage is more important than a very high Joule rating for a surge suppressor, but unfortunately the current marketing trend for this and other models is to not advertise the VPR. 6 cord with low-profile, right angle plug is good. 1080 Joules is plenty IMHO. Lifetime warranty. Made in China. Ive used the USB charging ports fairly regularly for 5 months now with no problems. I usually charge 1 smartphone at a time, or occasionally a tablet. Very satisfied with the product. A good deal especially if/when the price dips to $10! Deducted 1 star for not advertising the 500 V protection rating, and apparent lack of independent lab testing to verify the UL1449 rating.

I purchased two of these, one of them has had a high pitched whine since day one (it has to be periodically powered off for a while then turned back on for it to go away - but it will come back). Maybe not recommended for things you wont want to turn off the power strip for.

Works really well, quite compact but still decent space between the ports. If youre using an iPhone/iPad charger youll have to use one of the ports at the end though if you want to not block another, but since there are 6 its not a big deal.

UPDATE: Originally purchased in September for Samsung phones and a Kindle fire tablet. By December the USB ports were dead. Customer service sent me a new unit from the company. The replacement died (and killed my USB cable, which I didnt know was a thing) at the beginning of February. Based on my second experience with customer service, the amperage draw from the phones/tablet may be too much and frying the ports. The rep suggested trying something with less draw, which I dont have. Customer Service at the company was thorough and very helpful, but the USB ports are pretty useless. Will update again depending on how unit #3 performs. The warranty also only covers replacement so I may be stuck in and endless loop of replacements until I get fed up and get a different unit. Purchased this to try to be a bit more organized by having USB ports incorporated instead of constantly looking for blocks. About four months after purchase the ports stopped working. I used the company web site, explained that it was no longer working. Within two days, no questions asked, the company sent me a replacement. Very happy with the item, but will definitely purchase this brand again because of the excellent customer service and the company standing behind their product with a warranty.
