Rod Machados Private Pilot Handbook 3RD Edition

I bought this for my son whompland to be a ground instructor. He loved all the details, learned a great deal, also loved the humor throughout.

There is a lot of helpful instruction in this book. But Machados lame, tiresome, sophomoric humor is so annoying, so every-page persistent, as to make this book, despite its quality content, all but unreadable. If there ever was a writer who thinks hes funny and isnt, Machado is the one. Youre a captive audience for this failed class clown. He inflicts his stupid jokes on you constantly, and there is nothing you can do to escape them. You cant stop reading, and he cant stop making a fool of himself.

While the overall instruction was very helpful, the one line humor was distracting and time wasting. I think Ron is a very good instructor and able to easily make some very difficult material easy to grasp though I would hope the next edition doesnt have as much of his night club material.

The book came in good condition. There was no rips, tears, or ink issues. It looked basically brand new. I am glad I bought my book from here with such a fair price.

Great book full of useful knowledge. The author’s style and goofy jokes helped me retain the information being communicated.

I love that Rod made this book so fun. I believe you must be of sharp wit to get his humor. But this book is a giant stand-up teaching you how to fly. But I only gave it 4 stars because the humor is a double edge sword. When Im not in the mood for shinnanigans, and just wanna get to brass tax, I still have to read this book rather than skipping to the meat and potatoes to be sure I keep the context of his lecture properly. So if you have the excitement of Ben Stein, do not buy this book.

This is in my opinion the best textbook for private pilot. I just got a 93% on the PPL written. Rod goes into way more detail than say the Jeppesen books, which is great because even if you only retain some of it, you still have more than enough knowledge to be a safe pilot.

This is absolutely wonderful! The pictures and diagrams are clear and concise and very informative!!! Love reading this handbook!

I’m currently in Rod Machado’s class along with the book. I love it. Very easy to understand. The class is quite entertaining. If you don’t like the humor, maybe you’re not cut out for aviation. Lol.
