I am pushing about 12 gal/min through this. I have 2 sediment traps in the line because this didnt seem to stop much. Both have a 100 mesh screen. The 2nd trap stops more than this. I was going to change to 100 mesh followed by a finer mesh but not sure I can do that now.

It does filter very well. I changed the pvc valve to a brass valve to make it easier to turn. The pvc valve is a bit harder and other reviewers mentioned breaking the housing with it. It does not self clean at all tho. I take it apart each time.

I am a rainwater contractor and I use these often. They are wonderful! They keep your pump from getting larger debris into the pump.

I added a hose bib and an Orbit hose timer in place of the pvc ball valve. Backwash automatically for one minute every seven days. regular battery has lasted over a year so far on Orbit timer.

I use #100 mesh for the filter. However, there is a lot of sand in the water from my well and it clogs up the filter. I need to remove and clean the mesh insert every two days. Rusco makes a trapper filter which has a longer plastic case. In theory the sand should settle to the bottom and not be spun into the mesh. If this does not work, then I will need to try a more coarse mesh. Other than this problem, the filter does a great job in removing the sediment.

Sprinklers were clogging due to sediment from well. This solved the problem. You do need to clear the trap regularly depending on how much its catching or pressure will drop behind it as it becomes clogged. I setup a little solenoid that drains the trap on a regular basis and it works great. No more clogged sprinklers.

Easy to install, appears to be keeping sand out of my irrigation system. I had to install the drain valve a second time as it was leaking. I really enjoy checking on it and seeing how much sand is being collected.

Worked beautifully. Too well, in fact. I severely underestimated the level of funk in our water. Almost immediately after installing this, the filter element was black with sand. I am currently running it sans element until the 30 mesh arrives. Even without an element, it spins quite a lot of garbage to the bottom of the reservoir.
