I needed to add capacity to my PC, and QVO, while not EVO, still has amazing specs on paper. In theory. This is an expensive garbage purchase. First of all, it comes well packaged and weighs almost nothing, as one would expect from an SSD. But the speed is horrendous (see photo 3). The benchmarks for this SSD were done using CrystalDiskMark 8, the same utility used and recommended by Linus Tech Tips, JayzTwoCents, and GamersNexus. The scores were appalling, at 128 MB/s on read, which is well under the 550 MB/s promised in the specs. Just in case there was something wrong with the tool, I benchmarked my existing (Sandisk) SSD - a first gen SSD from almost 10 years ago... and it clocked in at 400+ MB/s read speed. (Note: I have rerun the QVO SSD Benchmark many times with no change). It gets worse - for large archive storage I had bought an 8 TB Seagate HDD. This HDD is run through an external enclosure over USB 3.0. Guess what? Yup! It is faster! The HDD over USB 3.0 was benchmarked at 180 MB/s for reads. My external HDD is faster than my QVO SSD!!! And it cost about the same as the QVO. Next, I had to do a large scale copy of 520,000 items to this QVO SSD. (There is a reason for this madness). It started well, but after only ~10,000 items, the speed dropped to 355 bytes / s and the predicted time went from a couple of hours to More than 1 day (see photo 4). It took ~6 hours to complete the transfer (120 GB). Im told I likely exhausted the cache early on and crippled the drive. But it seems like the drive cant recover from this! It know feels like the cache is constantly full so speeds are hobbled. Why Samsung? I dont know what game Samsung is playing here, but these speeds are criminal and nowhere near the specification listed when I purchased it. I feel ripped off and wont be buying a Samsung drive again. Despite the glowing reviews posted here, I did not get anything near those expectations. I have strong buyers regret. Amazon.ca has so many other options, but I banked on the Samsung name and got burnt. I would have been better off buying a second Seagate 8TB HDD at a similar price. I went through IT SSD forums to find a resolution. I was told that other than the cache issue, I should have bought EVO and that QVO is the discount drive version. Well, I shouldnt have bought QVO, but Samung wont get my dollar for EVO, not after this experience.

Great value for the money. For my latest gaming PC. Bought a second one for my other son’s PC build that we did last year.

Buy safe, the disk bought by Prime and actually arrived in 1 day, the SSD has no use and came very protected, I installed it on my external drive and came to transfer by USB3.0 300MB / s.

This is not the fastest SSD but this has one of the lowest power consummation on idle. Great value for the money.

Cloned and installed the drive last night. Magician software was flawless moving all data from the old Seagate 2 TB Firecuda SSHD drive, the process took under ten minutes to complete. Putting the new Samsung 2 TB 860 QVO SSD Drive to the test was disappointing. Apart from shutting down the laptop and booting back up, I did not notice any difference in speed than the Seagate SSHD drive. it took 10 seconds to restart and get back to desktop. Now, Im not a gamer and I use the laptop to do simple tasks like browsing the Net, paying the bills online, and reading the international media. The hype was/is about the speed of this Samsung Drive, truly I didnt see faster speeds or improvements moving from Seagate SSHD Drive to the new Drive. The firecuda delivered the same results as the Samsung for just a fraction of the price. Today I will move the new Samsung into another laptop to make sure it wasnt one laptops issues that prevent the new Drive from delivering as hyped by the maker, as well as some of the people who purchased the same Drive on Amazon. If all doesnt go well with the second attempt, this drive will be returned to Amazon today. Theres no point in throwing money out on top of being pissed off with the product.

Installed in minutes for a secondary HDD on my Acer NItro. Fetches fast, no issues at all after a few hundred gaming hours. Highly recommend
