For newer pc users like me, save yourself the headache and disconnect your other harddrives to force your motherboard to find the nvme. Once found installation was easy. Make sure to install the driver for the nvme off Samsung’s website. Feel free to install their software suite as well (although not required).

Good news is that it has the updated firmware so not a problem with Catalina. The bad news is that its slow for WRITE but READ is fine at 2500 Mb/s. The Sabrent Rocket will give full speed but then reliability is not a strong suit of Sabrent.

Every bit as good as the reviews. Super easy to install & lightning fast boot times & operation. M.2 is the future, dont use anything else.

I installed this in a Dell Inspiron 17 5770 laptop, which on one of the other pages that offers compatibility is not listed. Not Samsung’s issue, but it did take a bit of finesse to get the laptop to boot from the PCIe. It defaulted to that in the boot order in the bios immediately on installation, but it still kept booting from my 2 TB drive that I left in for storage. I had to disable the SATA drive in the bios. After a single boot from the new SSD, I was able to re-enable my SATA 2 TB drive and had them both up and running. On an 8th gen I7 I was up and running with Windows being responsive in about 9 seconds on a cold boot including biometric login. It took somewhere around 15-20 seconds for everything to be completely up and running. I stopped paying attention when I could function doing what I wanted to do in 9 seconds...

Used it as a boot drive for my ITX build. Boots to Windows login screen in less than 20s. Apps and games load so much faster than my old mechanical HDD. No complaints so far. SSD should be your first choice especially for boot disks :)

Had an mx500 m.2 ssd and was blown away by that, switching from console gaming. I was looking to upgrade some space and my bother convinced me to stick with Samsung. I was skeptical but thought, why not. And the difference is significant. It loads about 30-40% faster than my old ssd. I used to watch videos while loading into games and areas, and now, by the time I open up the video Im already loading in. Recommend, for sure.
