> 24 hourMany other reviewers have commented on this... I didn’t notice until after I purchased it, but this is a KIT for a 38” x 60” shower pan, but it comes with two 38” long curbs. I genuinely can’t understand what Schluter would create a kit that doesn’t include enough curb for the shower they sized the pan for. I had to spend another $90 to get a 60” long piece of curb separately. In addition, I strongly recommend you buy their proprietary mortar blend. Generic I modified thin set was not “sticky” enough to easily embed the provided seam tape to create waterproof joints. It took a lot of finesse to get the tape to lay flat using I modified thin set. On the positive side, I think the drain setup is easier to work with and of higher quality than other kits I’ve worked with and the kit being based on prebuilt pieces made it easier to assemble and adjust to fit... if you aren’t working in new construction and don’t have perfectly flush, level, square, and straight walls and floors, this is the best kit to use. Our house is 180 years old and to make the pan fit the opening, I trimmed the pan such that it ended up 36.25” on one side and 36” on the other and it worked flawlessly.

> 24 hourThe supply stores rave about this product but its quite a bit more difficult to install than the manufacturer makes it out to be, I also installed a corner bench, thought i would never finish installing all the corner flashings and its really expensive for what it actually is, some special fabric and foam board base, they need to lower there prices on this stuff.. and dont forget that you have to use an unmodified thin set to install it with!! try getting that at a box store( good luck), they dont even know what that is. Im a general contractor and seriously doubt Ill use this product again!! BTW, you can get the required modified thin set at a tile store but it will cost you ( $ 35+ for one 50lb bag.

> 24 hourAfter my bathroom remodeling contractor demolished the old bathroom, I asked how he plan to construct the shower pan. He said the old fashion way with concrete backer board. While I was at a tile store picking up the floor and wall tiles, I noticed the Schluter shower kit and asked the sales representative for a brochure. After reading the Schluter brochure, I convinced the contractor to use the product and agreed to pay the differential for any labor and material costs over his original bid price. The contractor loved using the product and it gave me peace of mind knowing I will not have a water damage issues in the long run. The contractor ended up using the Schluter products (Ditri, Kerdi, all set thin set mortar, and profiles) on the other two bathrooms including the master bathroom.

> 24 hourThe hardest part of a shower pan is creating the slope. This system allows you to easily install.

> 24 hourThe drain is made of ABS plastic, nowhere did it specify that it needs special accommodations to be attached to existing PVC, such as ABS to PVC adhesive. Just a forewarning! Otherwise great product!!!

> 24 hourThis is an excellent system that works as described. When installing it, make sure to use unmodified thinset! If you use a modified thinset it will not bond properly to your base material. I knocked a star off of this particular package because they dont provide enough curb in the package to go around the pan thats provided in the package... not sure why. I cut my pan down to 54x38 and only needed curb on 2 sides but still had to buy an extra piece of curb!
