Schmincke - HORADAM® AQUARELL - finest artists watercolours, cadmium red orange - 15 ml

Wow, $14/$15? for 5ml? Well I wanted to see what the fuss is about and I dont own this pigment so I purchased it to try the Schmincke brand and attain this pigment.

Its nearly impossible to find an orange that is transparent, but this goes beyond transparent all the way to translucent. Its fantastic for layering washes and is a yummy color. Its also lots of fun to say the name.

Finely made color.. great for color mixing

Total order came to 46.00. It’s a small 5 ml tube. I can’t say it’s reasonably priced but Kramer pigments sells pure Yinmn blue at about 75. Which I could make 3 large handmade pans or about one small tube here. Which I’ve done before. This recipe in the 5ml tube is fair. It is thick and packed with a fair amount of pigment. Unlike Daniel smith lapis lazuli the pigment is so sparse that it goes on very transparent and sticky from the amount of binder. I’d say this tube is worth having if you don’t want to go through the hassle of making your own Yinmn blue.

My first experience with Schminke paints and I love this beautiful Phthalo Sapphire Blue...my new favorite blue!

An interesting opaque Colour -

Just what it says, Cobalt Blue Light. Nice colour and good coverage and washes.

Just discovering this brand and I love the way the color flows and blooms. These paints to a good paper are like bread and butter together. Trying th figure out which colors to add next.
