I used this to cycle a newly set up aquarium and really cant tell if it sped up the process or not. Even with this, it took a month for the tank to cycle so if there was any benefit, it was minor.

much much better than the tetra equivalent. Add this to your new tank as well as this trick: Go to your local fish store and ask for a used old dirty filter. put it in a ziplock and keep it wet. When you get home, throw it in the tank. I know it seems disgusting, but it will jump start your beneficial bacteria cycle and cut weeks off your stabilization time. This and a bottle of Prime are a must have for any aquarium owner.
