Im currently doing a full format of this hard drive. I have the 5TB version. Ive always been a fan of Seagates portable hard drive, as Ive been using it mostly for my Xboxes (I have 3 xbox for different rooms, each with a 2TB Seagate drive). I decided to build my first ever PC in January 2020, and used this hard drive as my storage along with my m.2 ssd for my boot drive, and 1TB SATA SSD for Steam and Blizzard games. Everything was going great with this hard drive. I even used it to install most of my Xbox Game Pass games for Windows 10 as well as my content creation from photoshop to 4K videos. However, on October 2020, things got funky out of nowhere for some odd reason. Literally, I just finished filming and I was transferring a few 4K video files via my micro SD card to this drive. Ive never had issues in the past couple months, but the read and write speed was out of wack for some reason. I tried blaming my PC built since I overlocked the RAM via XMP-profile, and my hunch was that the voltage is possibly messing it up, so I resetted everything to default, but I came to find that it wasnt the cause since everything was going well even with XMP on or off except when transferring or moving files to and from this hard drive. Luckily, I have a backup 1TB SSD drive that I transferred all my majorly important files to (4K vids and photos), it was a pain staking 6 hours wait because of the continuous fluctution in transfer speed, dropping from 0kb/s to only getting up to 90mb/s. From there, I wiped out everything and am currently doing a full format in hopes that it will fix the issue. All in all, I think this is great for consoles, but not for PC or Mac.

Due to the size of this device can back-up my entire computer and have the ability to store pictures and other files just in case there is a problem with my main computer. Piece of mind.

I have switched to Seagate external drives. I use them to store my photographs and back-ups. I had 3 WD drives crash at the same time luckily I had a back up on my Seagate 5TB external drive. I would recommend this product for its durability and price. I hope you fin this review helpful.

A very convenient device for extremely large amounts of digital storage space. I am in fact satisfied with this product. It does what I need it to do abundantly!

Went from a 2 tb external and a 1tb internal hard drive for xbox games to just this.

Its a very good external harddrive but its storage wasnt fully 5tb but was packing some few gbs.

This is not my first Seagate backup drive, which I use as Time Machine on my MacBook Pro. They work fine until they die. My last one lasted exactly 5 years, so not too bad. The new one works fine, too, but the setup was an ordeal because it came with no clear directions on how to format it for Mac. In fact, the minimal directions it offered were actually wrong and wholly inadequate. I spent several hours watching it attempt to reformat, unaware that it was set for the wrong OS. After 4 hours, I got a message saying the reformat, or restore, had failed. I had to search online for full instructions on how to set the parameters for my OS. Using those instructions, the drive formatted in less than a minute and began its first Time Machine backup, which took all night. Not unusual for the first backup with a new hard drive. This morning, I was relieved to see that the backup was completed and the Time Machine feature worked fine. Honestly, this should have been much easier and stress-free. The small booklet that comes with the device has pages and pages in many languages, yet inadequate, brief connecting instructions. These things arent cheap and the least Seagate should do is make sure buyers know how to use their devices without the hassle.

Got this as an external hard drive to replace my 4TB hard drive. Does its job well and I cannot complain. Worth every dollar and will continue to buy from this brand.
