Summer Deluxe Piddle Pad, Black

> 24 hourI bought this because our daughter was potty training and she was having some accidents here and there. The worst was when she had them in her car seat. For a while we were washing her car seat every day. This has saved us and our car seat. Every time you have to reposition it so that it cover the childs entire bottom and make sure that there is enough space in front too. This is kind of a hassle but in the long run it is so worth it. Since buying this we only had to wash our car seat once because we didnt make sure there was enough room in front by the buckle, the pee seeped out.

> 24 hourOwned one of these for nearly a year before it was put to the test when our daughters diaper had leaked during a nap in the car. Her seat stayed dry and the Piddle Pad was easy to wash. After getting a chance to test this, we bought a second for our newborn. Everyone should have one of these in the car seats of all sizes, infant to booster seat. Car seat covers are annoying to take off and wash, so to avoid having to take them completely apart to wash accidents, place these in the car seat! The backing keeps them from shifting too much, so readjusting them is minimal. I highly recommend these!!!

> 24 hourCar seats are usually annoying to install, much less to uninstall and reinstall over every food spill or bathroom accident. That is the reason why I bought this piddle pad because my wife and I were getting extremely annoyed with having to take the car seat out, pull off the cover/liner, wash it, then replace the cover and then reinstall the car seat. It seemed like we were having to do this every other day. Since we bought the pad, it has reduced this quite a bit. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is that we still had some pee seep through the access hole for the belt connector that is between my sons legs. He evidently was sitting in just the right spot for some liquid to get through. Other than this (not even sure if the pad is at fault here, just the way it has to be designed), we have been very pleased with this product. It also washes easily and dries very quickly. Id recommend purchasing two (one to switch out while the other one is being cleaned).

> 24 hourI use these in my toddlers’ carseats for two reasons: 1) For my potty training 3 yr old. He hasn’t had many accidents in his car seat, but I like having a buffer between him and the surface of the seat for easier cleaning. I don’t expect it to completely hold and contain all of the urine if he does have an accident, but simply to make it easier to clean him or have the ability for him to still sit in a relatively dry seat until we get home. 2) I also have one in my 1 yr olds seat, who hasn’t started potty training yet, but is a terribly messy eater. With this seat insert, I can simply pull it out, shake the crumbs off and keep going.

> 24 hourAnother essential baby item that I didnt realize I needed. Somebody got me this for my baby shower. I didnt originally put it in the carseat. He had his first blow out and I had to take the entire car seat cover off and wash it and wait for it to dry. Now I have this in there and it makes clean up so easy. Absolutely love this. I now buy it for every new Mommy when I go to a shower.

> 24 hourI have 4 (almost 5) kids all under 6. I use this for long drives since some of my potty trained kids will still wet themselves when they fall asleep. Though Ive only had to use it ONCE for that purpose (and it was GREAT!!!) Ive also used it for when a child threw up in the car (got all over his clothes and dripped down to the seat, took it off and he had a clean seat to sit in!) another reason its a must have is all those sacks my kids eat on long drives, and bread crumbs from their sandwiches, such a pain to vacuum up on vacation! I just take this out and shake it off and they have a clean car seat!! I love this!!! I only have 2 and am buying 3 more for the other kids just for the crumb reason alone! HA!

> 24 hourThis has been great to have for potty training accidents in the carseat. It is absorbant and leak proof so the carseat stays dry. However, the tab that comes up to protect the strap between the legs is too short to fully protect the strap from urine. I feel like making it longer and fully encircle the strap would be a huge improvement. Also, it is super easy to pop in the washing machine, but cannot be dried in the dryer, so I would suggest having 2 of them.

> 24 hourGiven the mixed reviews, I decided to test this before using. When I took this out of the package, I sprinkled a few drops of water on it... and sure enough they beaded up and rolled right off. This didnt surprise me - I always wash towels at least once before using or they dont absorb anything. So, I washed this according to the instructions and it seemed significantly more absorbent after washing. It has not been tested by a toddler pee incident yet... but I bet it will perform better having been washed. The overall design is great and it fits my two very different car seats equally well. I will circle back once the true test has been passed (or failed).... UPDATE: I washed this a second time because of squashed Cheerios and sundry other sticky spots, and then we finally had a full-on pee accident. This worked GREAT! It held all the liquid with literally about 2 drops making it onto the car seat cover. We stopped pretty much right away and changed clothes, etc. - I was impressed by how much this absorbed. I will not leave home without it!!

> 24 hourIf my daughter did a small accident, this worked great. I wouldnt have to wash the entire seat cover. But if she just let everything that she had been holding in for hours go in her seat, this pad didnt save much at all. The accident still soaked through and the seat cover needed to be washed. Keep in mind, I have only dealt with number 1 accidents, my little one hasnt done a number 2 with this yet so I cannot attest to it strength on that end.

> 24 hourI purchased 3 carseat liners to test them myself. The Britax Seat Saver Waterproof liner, the Summer Infant total coverage car piddlepad and the Summer infant deluxe piddle pad. I put them on our high chairs, poured 1/4 cup water on each of them and waited 5 minutes to see what would happen. The Britax soaked in all the water, but the bottom side was totally dry. The Summer infant deluxe piddle pad came in 2nd, while it soaked in some of the water some stayed beaded up on top of the fabric. None leaked through the bottom. Finally, the Summer total coverage piddlepad came in last. None of the liquid soaked through, it all stayed beaded up on top. So if it was urine, taking a kid out of the seat it would have run all over and still made a mess. No liqud soaked through the fabric so I cant really say if the bottom liner is waterproof or not. We are returning both summer piddle pads and purchasing more of the Britax for both of our cars. FYI if you are considering the summer piddle pads, they are exactly the same size (though one advertises extra large waterproof protection). The same pattern is used to make both pads. The Britax has the most coverage out of all 3 models. I hope that helps!
