Swanson SVE360 36-Inch Savage Straight Edge, Non-marring, Anodised and Laser-Etched Scale

As a woodworker I love quality tools. This is the third straight edge , in different lengths, that I have purchased by Swanson. When it come measuring tools I will look at Swanson first, because of the value, and then Woodpecker. Lets be honest, there is no sense spending more than you have to for a tool.

A must have tool with multiple applications, especially as a jigsaw guide to cut perfectly straight fine cuts in plywood when using special plywood cutting blades and clamps.

I was not surprised by this, given the cheap price, and perhaps this is only because of shipping (imagine shipping a 6 foot long piece of aluminum and a 3 inch wide box), but I am going to return this. I dont have a need for a long measuring stick, not to mention some thing I didnt notice before ordering this, that other people mentioned in the reviews/photos that the measuring is grossly inaccurate. I could just use a measuring tape, its not like 6 feet is difficult to hold out a straight measure tape. I only purchased this as a way of verifying the straightness of longer boards after I finish jointing them, so that I dont have to wait until Im done with two of them and compare them to each other and then try to spot the specific crookedness, etc.

It is great to have a flat, straight reference edge in the shop. I can finally find the curves in my fences and align cuts better. Good product at a good price.

I actually bought the 48 and 24 versions to draw the lines to paint an argyle wall for my sons room. These were better than any other yardstick I bought or considered. The soft padded backing also helped it stay in place on the wall as I drew the lines. It worked like a charm and made this wall possible.

Overall good product. A slight bend in the middle. Product arrived in a good box, however, one end of the ruler was damaged chipped.

I cant say how accurate this straight edge, but its straight enough for everything I do. I chose this one because of the price and the design. The angled aluminum gives more options for using the tool to check for alignment and stiffens the tool.

Quality built , high visible, everything about it is perfect.
