You can hang your meter on a piece of metal next to you so you arent fiddling with it, and test leads when youre working in panels or trouble shooting. Legitimately convenient enough to say its an investment in your safety. The strap is sturdy and the magnet is strong. The meter isnt going anywhere you dont want it to.

Works perfect on my fluke 87. Had the fluke brand magnet before but meter was stolen. Not paying the $50 that fluke wants for their magnet.

Im a wireman doing fire alarm and have been using a Fluke 179 with their magnet for well over 5 years and love it. Decided to expand my collection, so picked up a Fluke 101. Couldnt see spending as much for the magnet as for the meter, so bought this one. It seems just about identical, except its longer, which I wish it wasnt, but for the price, its fine. The magnet strength is about the same, and the strap nearly so.
