TurboTax Premier Federal + State + eFile 2008 [OLD VERSION]

It works very well. This 2008 version is alot more user friendly than the previous years.

Turbo Tax 2008 was as expected and as always TT is what I need to complete my Federal and State Tax returns

It is Inuits prerogative to change the terms of their license, but if you dont like it, vote with your feet and use a competing product - I am. A several years ago Intuit restricted the number of computers you could install the software on (to just one I think) and people switched to computing products in droves (including me). The next year they gave up on that practice. Personally I would much rather have them limit the number of computers it can be installed on than to you to one free return. I do my taxes and two family members - as a favor. I could do those returns without software, but why should I if I am already buying software for myself. I will not pay Intuit another $20 for those returns - nor $60 just to do my own. I dont care about the free e-filing - actually I think it is a crime that the government couldnt come up with a standard format that tax programs could produce so returns could be filed directly to the IRS site without a 3rd party getting involved (and making a profit). I am sure they could do that for less than it costs them to process paper returns. I used Tax Cut a few years ago and it wasnt quite as polished as TurboTax, but it was fine. From what Ive read, the gap between products has narrowed. I guess I will find out for myself soon enough.

Purchased Turbotax Premier as I have done for the past several years. Wanted to try eFile this year. After competeing my tax return and the check for errors was complete I tried to eFile. Kept giving me the message I was not connected to the internet or there was an error connecting to the internet. After a few days of this we thought it best to mail the return (state eFile cost 19.95) while my wife was at the Post Office she was asked if we had done our taxes using Turbotax? When my wife said yes they asked why we didnt eFile. My wife told them about the error message and that was the same message they had. Also this years transfer of last years info was not as complete. May be time to bite the bullett and try another brand.

You may not need this expensive version of TurboTax if youre buying it primarily because you also have investment income (Schedule D). I realize TT has recommended this but theyve recanted and told me that the 2008 Deluxe version will be every bit as capable as the 2007 Deluxe version was in guiding us through the Schedule D, C, SE and other self employment forms. Heres the dialogue: TurboTax support has been extremely responsive in calling me back regarding my complaint to them about how badly theyre confusing people on which TT product to buy. Id like you to read my question to them and then their answer. The bottom line is that TTDeluxe 2008 is every bit as comprehensive (and more) as the TTDeluxe 2007 product. There are no takeaways and no real reason for a Schedule D user to have to buy the Premiere version and no significant reason why a self-employed person MUST buy the Home/Business version. He knew their company screwed up and caused a public relations nightmare. Apparently the recommended upgrade products have expanded guidance and help for the uninitiated TT user. If this 2nd review of mine is not accepted by Amazon, I will try to post it to the Premiere version and the Home/Business version and also as a comment to my 1st review here. My question: Considerable confusion exists as to whether a person with investment income/transactions or self employed income absolutely needs to buy the considerably more expensive Premiere or Home/Business version. Your website indicates that the Deluxe version includes forms Sched. D, Sched. C, SE etc. and yet you say we should buy the more expensive program. This doesnt make sense. Ill be happy if Deluxe 2008 is as comprehensive as Deluxe 2007 was but nowhere do you compare the 2008 and 2007 versions. You are getting very bad reviews this year on Amazon because of all this confusion. People believe you are taking away function from Deluxe and raising the price to boot. Their response: These are the actions we took to assist you in resolving your issue: I was able to express to Sam that the Deluxe program will have the same functionality as in previous years, as well as additional features as well. Sam express his confusion on the product features and that of the comparison between each of the verison of TTax. I informed Sam that he has given me a great piece of reference when relaying the changes, functions, and ease of usage within the program. I will be able to inform my supervisors on this as well as urge the response for our return customers, as well as new. Thank You Sam.

My order mistake...Want it back?

This is the fourth year using Turbo Tax. Excellent product. I no longer need an expensive, and not always accurate, CPA! I dont understand how Geithner messed up using it! Turbo Tax should ask for a public apology! TH

I ordered the TurboTax on 3/26/09 and paid $7.00 for expedited shipping. An autoreply to confirm my order and also stated that the shipment would arrive from 3/30 to 4/6/09. It never arrives even until today 4/30/09. My cretid card billed. Emailed the seller multiple times, no response. Cannot reach anyone in Amazon.com for help. Had to call credit card company to dispute the charge. The worst experience of my line shopping. This is not a seller, this is a crimial. Shame on Amazon to help out this criminal to victimize custumer. Call for investigation on this crook.

This product was an excellent competitive price and the seller was perfect. Was mailed right away and same product would have cost me $40 more. Good deal.
