Greater than one weekI tried this item...but never could get it to work right. I held on to it because I thought it was a great price. Recently I tried to plug it up it started sparking so I unplugged it. I think I tried it maybe 3or 4 times with no luck... If I would have tried it before the return date and this would have happened I would have returned it.

Greater than one week(Rewritten Review - final long-term follow-up, a year and a half later) Admittedly I was kind of torn as to what final grade to give to this now-dead charger. It worked quite well at first, doing what it was claimed to do. Then after about 7-8 months the quick supercharging started to fade in speed. At about 15 months or so of constant use the green LED went out. And now a couple of days short of 18 months the unit finally died. No storm, no power surge, no spike in the surge-protected line...just a meek fade to dark. I had initially written a 5-star review previously, lauding its merits but also citing a concern that perhaps not enough time had passed before posting such praise. Turns out I was right...it was premature to heap so much love on this HiTrends 8-port charging hub. Seems so common that so many things these days dont last anywhere close to forever. Seldom does it feel like we have anything electronic--especially INEXPENSIVE gadgets--last longer than 3 to 5 years. And so it goes that unfortunately after a year and a half of ultimately very average charging performance, this unit finally went kaput not more than 30 minutes ago. One of my USB cables has a built-in LED; when that suddenly blinked then went dark itself, initially I thought that it was the cable. But that was only the telltale indicator; diagnosing the power chain lead back to a conclusion of a complete failure of this not-so-super charger. Disappointing for sure, since its failure also puts added burden on the remaining charging gear that I already have in use. Most of the cables it once supported have gone back on a smaller non-fast charging USB hub that ironically the HiTrends directly replaced. That no-name 6-port remained in use continually supporting a single cable (and intermittently temporary cables as well) during the whole 18 months of the HiTrends and never skipped a beat. Aside from being slow, that 6-port is still very much alive and kicking. Not so the HiTrends. So now its coming down to a final grade for this product. As mentioned above the quick charging feature didnt last, so that itself is not going to support a five-star grade anymore. Ive got older chargers that are still working so longevity is not going to be a brownie point for this one. It did last 18 months so that at least is worth something. But the touted performance, or more precisely its lack of of, is what irritated me the most. It ultimately did only average work, and that wasnt what I paid for. But the return window had long since passed so it remained in use giving so-so recharging speed for the rest of its service. That it prematurely died completely was only the final nail in its proverbial coffin. Since it was somewhat useful for an albeit too short while, I grudgingly wanted to give it a barely deserved 2 stars. However I also keep thinking it probably should be a one-star final score. It lasted less time than many of my other USB chargers that has seen continual connection to AC power. Eighteen months truly isnt worth the $19.99 that I paid Amazon in April of 2019, not when cheaper units (and the OE wall warts) that I own have lasted far longer. Overall the bitterness over its lack of reliability rules: 1 star. No remorse in the score, only in buying this sorry thing to begin with. And in posting a 5-star review way too early.

30-03-2025We bought 2 of these for different rooms, they held up so far for about a year and charge great. Only issue was the tiny green light, it’s very small yet during the night it can light up half the room so on both units I opened them up and used a black sharpie on the led which doesn’t fully black it out but cuts the light down by 50% so I can still see it yet doesn’t light up the room.

> 3 daySeems to work well, charges my S8 like the factory supplied charger. My girlfriend said it didnt rapid charge her Note 8 but I cant confirm that. Seems very handy for multiple devices though. The LED light is very bright though and hard to sleep with so I tend to push it under the bed at night.
