Setup was very easy and having 2 usb ports, that are always on, is very convenient. I purchased this item because I was told it would work with Alexa, which it does NOT! It does, however, have some very useful features that make it a good buy. I love that it reports back how much power is going through it at any given time, and knows sunrise and sunset times based on zip code. If they come out with a skill for Alexa, or IFTTT, theyll get that 5th star!

Lots of problems with these devices but the worst is poor support. The Woods/WiOn Website has very little useful info and no details on such things as what can be done with the program. Instructions for the app are embedded in the app only. The site has a place to ask questions but they ignore them. They have an 800# but the persons who answer know less about the products than they would if they spent a day on Amazon. I give it 2 stars as some users seem to have better luck -- more like their applications didnt run into any of the snags and they didnt have to try and get support.

Well, it would certainly be nice if the 2 USB ports were also controlled by the timer functions, since that really was what I needed, but its still a good adapter and it will be nice to have the energy monitoring feature for the area Im using it in.

Had problems with the final step of setting up the device. When entering the password, I would get an error message. 1st time I contacted customer service they had a tech call me. Once on with tech he did not have me run through the set up again are or check to make sure I was inputting information correctly. The tech went right into a script of telling me that my computer was corrupt and they needed to run diagnostics on it. For around $200. He said my fire wall on my system had too many intruder attempts from my gaming, social media and porn habits. He insisted this was the problem and he needed access to my computer. I hung up. I don’t own a computer. I have an iPad and an iPhone I run the app. After trying to self diagnose and googling possible problems with it, I recontacted tech. After taking my info they told me they would have a technician call me. I asked if it was free service to have tech work with me and they answered yes. Then I mentioned the last experience that they tried to sell me a service at about $200. And they text chat ended and disappeared. After playing with the WiON smart plugs a bit more I figured out that I needed to copy my password from my router page and paste in the box on my WiON app set up page. And not type it in. For some reason that was the issue. The plugs work great. I am concerned about WiONs costumer service ethics.

Interesting device, will get another to use in remote locations to cycle radio equipment. I hope they are robust for that critical service. Cool energy monitor feature in this particular model. Nicest thing is now router NAT or port forwarding is needed and works fine on a dynamic public IP as well. The commercial AC power switches require significant router set-up to use them remotely.

So far so good. Works like a champ: Programmed a hot water recirculating pump for morning and evening. It can also be turned ON/OFF via the App. Well done!

This WiOn wall timer arrived in good shape and on time. It was easy to sync with my WiFi system and was simple to program. I used it throughout the holiday season without any issues.

I decided to buy 2 different types, this wion and also the ihome plug. As another reviewer said, if you expect various intermitent power outages, when the power of back up, the wion DOES NOT RECONNECT to be controlled from distance, where the ihome does not seem to have a problem. To solve this problem, in the last 2 months, I press the sent debugging email button in the app, and 80% of the time, it reconnects, making me believe there is some human manual adjustment. When I put a note for the company that their ihome competitor does not have that problem and to let me know if they plan to solve this glitch, they gave me nonsense explanations totally discarding that the ihome works through their excuses. Too bad wion, this time the debugging email I sent you it did not reconnect my wion but it threw me in the reset connect new device screen and I am not about to drive 40 miles to reconnect it, I WILL INSTEAD RETURN IT!, too bad because your app seems to be more intuitive than ihomes amd the hardware seems fine, its on the software end were your denial exists! Bye!

Hi all with connection issues. Use you 2.4ghz wifi to connect this device. 2.4 gets out farther. Not a lot of data so 5ghz is not necessary. I have several of these devices and work fine indoors and out. One is even mounted inside a metal timer box!
