> 3 dayThe first time we played with the kinect we were at some friends house and it was so much fun. Microsoft has taken video gaming to a completely different level. Having no controls is amazing and the fact that the kinect sensor can detect where you are and actually have a live profile of you (in some games) is way cool. If you spend an hour or so in front any of the active games, you will sweat like you never did. We bought it a few months later, with the sports, dance central, your shape fitness evolved and the biggest loser workout games. Each of the games has its uses and it is a lot of fun to play and also keep track of how many calories you are burning (some games). The interphase is good although it seems to be little weird when you want to change players (not much though). Once you get the xbox live, it opens a whole new world for you, the best of which is the ability to watch netflix movies (subscription separate). Xbox live seems to have new updates every time you turn it in on, which is slightly annoying since it wont allow you to play the game if you dont download. However, it doesnt really take that much time. I am just trying to have something negative to say. Overall, a great system and technology and tons of fun with family or friends. Definitely provides a great workout without leaving your home. Highly recommend.

> 3 dayMy family and I really enjoy the Xbox 360 console. We have purchased a lot of game consoles in the past including the Wii and the Xbox by far exceeds them all. So far the games we have played on it are very realistic and far better than any other game consoles. The best part is that I saved around $50.00 by purchasing through Amazon. Very happy with my purchase. I highly recommend this Xbox 360 with connect to everyone who enjoys playing games.

> 3 dayThe Kinect takes video gaming to a whole new level! And the Xbox 360 in itself is wonderful. Love the interface, the vibrant colors and the sensitivity of all controllers / sensors. And the Amazon deal made it all sweeter.

> 3 dayI have been a playstation 3 owner for a few years, but I always wanted to get an x-box as well for the exclusive games such as Gears of War. Now that the motion control technology has been introduced, I decided against just getting the Move for PS3 (didnt like the idea of the distracting glowing balls) and went ahead and shelled out for the x-box since I had wanted one eventually anyway, and because the Kinect seemed like a much better choice with NO controller (and some pretty good reviews). Ive had the console and kinect for about a month now, and I have 5 games for the Kinect. Ill give a brief review of each, to give an overall impression. There are really two categories, games (Kinect Adventure, Kinect Sports, and Rise of Nightmares) and fitness (Your Shape and Julian Michaels Fitness Adventure). Starting with the games... I will say that it is a fun and unique experience to play with no controller, and seeing your movements translated on your television. This is obviously a technology that is still in its infancy, and is not very accurate or precise, and to have fun you really need to take it with a grain of salt and just enjoy it for what it is. (I am reminded of being a kid and having an Atari 2600... give that to a kid now and they will scoff and ask you if you are joking... but back when home video games were a brand new kind of entertainment, those blocky graphics and clonky sound effects kept us entertain for hours at a time and days on end. The fun part is being part of a new and budding experience in gaming). On the downside, the novelty wears off fairly quickly. In the end, the games are not very addictive or challenging, and actually pretty random and hit and miss with the control. They are definitely NOT for any serious gamer. I can see kids and families (including adults who occasionally will try playing for fun) enjoying these games in parties and for occasional together time, but not anyone who really gets into video games. A quick synopsis of the games: Kinect Adventures comes with the console, which isnt the best move because its the most disappointing game Ive tried. Besides the fact that the games are simple and get old very quickly, I soon realized that it really didnt matter how much (or little) i moved. I could flail around with no purpose, and do pretty well. Even worse, I discovered that I could STAND STILL, and still make it through all the levels and rack up points. Whats the point? This one gets an F. Kinect Sports is a little bit better than adventures. There is a bit more challenge to it (although still pretty easy), and to make it interesting you can compete against friends and family. As I mentioned earlier, the controls are not very accurate, and it is more like playing sports drunk than anything. The movements mostly consist of very simple swing your arm or step this way or that way movements. But you do have to actually make an attempt to try, unlike adventures, or you will lose. That, plus the ability to compete with real life friends makes the game worth a C-. Rise Of Nightmares is my favorite game yet. In this one, there is an actual story (although kind of thin and one dimensional) and a purpose, and movement through the game. You play a guy whos wife has been kidnapped, and have to wander (well... that is, follow the path through the game that has been laid out for you) through a castle hacking, slashing, and beating undead corpses with machetes, iron rods, saws, etc. Again the controls are not very good (especially walking and turning, which in its-self is a nightmare) but I have to admit that there is some satisfaction to connecting a good punch/kick/slash at a zombie that goes flying, (with blood and screams and all) and when there are a lot of them you get the feeling for a moment that you are in a horror flick, plowing through a mess of zombies like an action hero. But... its pretty much the same thing over and over. Same zombies, same easy puzzles (basically find the switch which is very close to the locked door or gate) and repeat. But as a horror movie fan I enjoyed the atmosphere and the gruesome parts, and was glad to have at least one Kinect game where I felt somewhat immersed in the game for at least a few minutes at a time. Now the SECOND category of Kinect (for me) is the fitness category, which was a big part of why I wanted the system. These seem to have some promise, but are also flawed. The first one I started using was Your Shape. I love the idea, being put into the program... and being given a large variety of activities including individual exercises, workouts, games, dancing classes, etc. and I actually enjoy most of the individual activities. The games are the most fun, punching bricks in wallbreaker, stomping on glowing lines that rush at you, etc. and the jumprope activity is great, its like guitar hero except instead of notes you have foot patterns coming at you that you have to be in time with. The ONE THING that kills the whole thing for me is the load times. Most of the activities are fairly short, and there is WAY too much time spent in loading. When you finish an activity, you have to go back through TWO menu screens (each one takes a bit to load), then scroll around to find the next activity you want to do, then load the activity (wait), choose how many players (wait), then once you get to the final screen you STILL have to wait for it to start up. All in all, you spend a huge chunk of your exercise time waiting for things to load. I would say in a 30 minute workout, you are inactive for nearly 10 minutes of that time. This is a waste of time and does not keep your heart rate at where it should be. Until they fix that problem, I wont be doing much more Your Shape. But I will give it a C+ with hopes for it to get to an A with improvements. Finally, I bought Julian Michaels Fitness Adventure because I saw it on sale for 20 bucks. To my surprise, I actually liked it! I skipped the individual exercise things and went straight into the adventure. instead of being stuck in one place, you are moving through a jungle/ancient temple setting. You run through, grabbing green gems and avoiding red ones, until you get to an obstacle. There you have to do a certain exercise (which on your bottom left julian is shown doing it for reference, and on the bottom right you are in the game, so you can see how your form is compared to hers). For the most part, you have to actually do the exercises correctly to get past the obstacle... you cant fake it (although there are glitches). There are 58 levels, and each level takes about 5 minutes or so to complete, and as opposed to Your Shape going to the next level or changing levels goes pretty quickly. After three levels, Ive had a pretty rigorous workout! The downside of this game is that it is very repetitious. All the levels look pretty much the same, and you are asked to repeat the same exercises very often. I find myself griping are you kidding me? this one AGAIN??? but its still fun to have a game feel to your workout. It was definitely worth 20 bucks. Ill give this one a B. Overall... using the kinect has been a fun experience. I honestly have a feeling that in a month or two, it will be mostly unused though. I do plan on trying Dance Central or Just Dance, seeing how popular they are, and for a further variety to my workout, although I am uncoordinated and have never been much of a dancer so Im not getting my hopes up. I think there is a lot of potential for some really cool stuff... in particular Im REALLY looking forward to the star wars game where i can finally swing around a lightsaber... (pushed back to december 2012 release i believe)... and Im not writing the Kinect off... but from what Ive experienced SO far, Id say it has a long way to go before it is something that most people would find regularly usable. By the way, Im still glad I bought the console. Im almost done with the first Gears of War and looking forward to playing Gears of War 2 next... by then hopefully part 3 will have gone down a few bucks lol.
