Of course Ive used gauges at the hardware store, but this is soooo much handier--no more dragging nuts and bolts to the store. I work a lot on cars and motorcycles, and frequently on older models. This is a welcome addition to my tool chest.

I bought this YOC Bolt Size and Thread Gauge to help me identify the size and thread pitch of nuts and bolts. It is a handy tool that is easy to use and comes with a variety of sizes to cover most applications. I would recommend this tool to anyone who works with nuts and bolts on a regular basis.

There have been many times that I need a specific bolt or fastener and I do my best to guess the size and thread pitch for what I need. With this metric and imperial set of thread gauges, there will be no more guessing. I will know exactly what I need. Ill be going to the hardware store knowing what I need and will save a lot of time trying to guess or purchasing the wrong fastener and having to make another trip. Ever had a random nut or bolt that you needed to find a duplicate for? Trying to match one from a container of random nuts and bolts? This tool will quickly and easily allow you to identify what size and pitch the bolt or nut youre trying to match up is. As a mobile technician that works on multiple different makes and models, these tools have already saved me more money in time saved than they are valued at.

This is one of those things that you never get around to buying because its just now quite worth it to spend the money, that is just so handy to have. So hopefully youre looking for somebody to hand one of these this down to you, or you end up being a big box store trying to figure out the replacement bolt size you need from the beat up templates that they have somewhere in the nuts and bolts isle. Then you find all those numskull before you tried to force the wrong nut on wrong thread and everything is stripped. So just buy one, and you can send you kid to your workbench to get you the right replacement nut that you dropped through the floorboard... provided you also bought one of those handy nut and bolt collections as well. But seriously it also helps you figure out if its metric or english/SAE threads.

Im pretty good at estimating thread sizes by eye but once in a while the metric vs english will screw me up. This set makes it easy to be sure.

What is the size of that machine screw? What are the threads in that nut? Is it metric or SAE?

These things are just awesome. I’ve got jars and bins full of hardware and it just takes forever to sort them without a tool like this. These come in the most common sizes with a metric set and an SAE set. They are organized on a wire and would work just fine like that but I wanted them mounted in a way similar to the sizers in the blue big box store. Using a 2” wide aluminum strap, I drilled and tapped each size hole and just screwed each one into its own hole. One side has the bolt sizer and flipping it over, the nut sizer. I used a label maker and printed out the sizes so they are easier to see and I’m stoked to have this thing. If you’ve looked up the price of what’s in the store, it’s quite expensive. I have one almost identical now that cost around 1/4. Anyone that owns a toolbox should have one of these.
