We tried several popular brands of bar soap but one or the other of us found they all irritated our skin -- except for Zest. Zest never irritates us. I also use it to shave my heavy beard and find it eliminates the need for other products. It lasts in the dish, little waste at the end. No offending odor after the shower -- we hate perfumed products, we prefer to smell like cleaned selves. Zest is an old and reliable American brand and we would hate to see it retired just because its been around for a couple of decades.

Soap is soap and I love Zest. No complaints with the product. But the packaging was ridiculous. First off, I ordered a 20 pack and received a 16 pack with 4 loose boxed bars. This was all in a bag. Nothing else. The 4 loose boxed bars were crushed and broken. One was in tiny pieces loose in the bag which got all over everything upon opening. The entire 16 pack was also crushed. I have not removed the boxes from the packaging but can tell all boxes are crushed. And am sure they are as busted up as the others.

I have a house served by a water system that delivers extremely hard water. When washing with regular soaps it is tough even to get a lather on the body and when rinsing the soap turns to scum before it hits the shower floor. I bought Zest because at one time it boasted the opposite. Tough to find the actual producer of this soap, I did, and I wrote asking if Zest is detergent. The company answered IT IS NOT. There is no deceptive advertising but to people who remember it as detergent this difference is important. The soap, as do most soaps, cleans well, it has a pleasant aroma but it is no better than other sat avoiding scum. If this is important to you, dont buy it. Again, other soaps are the same; I have taken to body wash because it does not scum. I buy Kirkland because Costco home brands are less expensive and they are just as good. Hey, how many guys admit they use body wash??? But, it makes the shower easier to keep clean.
