Attempt #1: They show a ruler in the picture... how about using it next time? Was expecting a 1/4x2x12... got a 1/4x1x12. Incompetence or a ripoff? The packaging (plastic zip lock!) label said 2. Totally unusable and being returned. Attempt #2: Ordered again from LJ-Store. They got the size right but its not solid brass, its brass covered ALUMINUM. FRAUD!!! See picture. Buyer Beware. If only I could give negative stars...

I weld on this all the time. Great heat dispersal and minimal damage when I use in place of ceramic.

Worked great as a brass guard on a knife.

I received 1/4 copper 1X12 , not 3/8 brass 1X6 . Brass rod in picture for reference. I have a knife project Im working on and REALLY need the correct materials. Time is of the essence.

These guys are awesome! I am a blacksmith and I make knives for a living . These guys delivered top quality brass for half the price of the competition. I received it in 2 days. And I couldnt be happier.

The bar is solid brass, unlike what another review said. I cross cut it on my table saw with a metal cutting blade. My only beef is that it was not quite flat along its short axis, which is why only 4 stars. It was straight on the long axis, though. The bar has milling marks on both sides, running its length, which I was able to sand down. Going to 600 grit gives a nice surface. Avoid an orbital sander on this, however, as it will leave swirl marks. Sanding block only. I put a patina on it with ferric chloride, followed by vinegar/salt/hydrogen peroxide.

Yep, I had to wire grind and sand it, prime and paint it. A gate latch the length needed, some JB Weld.... and we have my goofy creation of a paper towel holder holder. Yes twice said. So, originally, I put the paper towel dispenser in my kitchen above the microwave/convection oven, and the air exhaust blowing out the vents was way more than I imagined, and moving it in my motor home kitchen was just not feasible, nor was I willing. As it was, I just had to make this neat little weighted bar that I conjured in my imagination, one of crazy mixed in. It became more than it was intentionally intended (yes twice again sort of), but as it turned out, primed painted, and detailed with a Cross and a peace sign, it made an unraveling flying paper towel conundrum look as if I intended....intentionally. Like it or not, it was my thing. I get things, and make them something else. Crazy yes, but the coooolness is in the calmness. No more flying. And it stays in place, just like a gate latch and brass bar, and JB Weld is supposed to...with intent. Thesaurus anyone?
