I bought these on a whim just to see what the spring loaded punch would do. It works fine 90% of the time buy the mechanism needs to be tightened down occasionally or you do not get that crisp punch into the wood.

Neither item work directly out of the box!

These are like other import automatic center punches Ive used. Fits nicely in the hand. The punch is a bit wobbly in the handle, but it gets the job done. Its made of carbon steel, not SS. There is no real spring tension adjustment, it just screws apart and back together. Not sure what youd need to adjust the tension for, anyway. Two of these cost less than the sales tax on the premo US made one these are made to look like. No comparison, of course, but I used one of them to make multiple dimples in a sheet metal plenum for the center pivot of a compass so I could mark take-off holes. It did the job just fine.

Made a small prick in both aluminum and hard steel. Although I thought it worked fine I believe a slightly stronger spring would improve it. I used it full tension but would liked slightly more resistance for a little deeper hole.

If you have to drill holes in ...... you can simply start drilling and hope the drill bit actually goes in straight. On metal or on rounded surface you know the drill bit will dance around before catching and scraping up the surface as it goes. These center punches are spring loaded so you simply place it where you want to drill press and it leaves an indent keeping your drill bit centered and straight. A must have for anyone working on metal or plastics. Good quality tool which when you learn how to use you wont ever not want to be without.

Its easy to use for pushing down but if you have a project which requires a push upwards or sideways, this tool isnt strong enough.

karmiero 2 Pc Automatic Center Punch Remarkably, both of the spring-loaded automatic punches worked the first time. The grip is easy to maintain. First, I tried various types of wood. The pressure to activate the punch is minimal. Each time it scribed a hole mark. I then went to metals such as aluminum and steel. The steel required spring adjustment to get a good visible hole. The punch never slipped and was accurate. The tools are easy to assemble and disassemble. Well manufactured, and no detectable flaws. Excellent value.

The tool is inconsistent. I rarely works as intended.
