I bought it to protect a Caterpillar from a Monarch butterfly. I am happy to see the Caterpillar grow protected inside his home!

Love the butterfly houses, or as I like to think of them, the caterpillar nurseries. I put the milkweed plant with the butterfly egg in the nursery, and water the milkweed as needed. It is fun to watch them mature and then I release them hours after they turn into butterflies and are ready. Look carefully at the left nursery top right corner, there is a brand new butterfly that I released right after I took the picture.

This habitat for caterpillars is perfect! We have three monarch crysallis in them right now! Would definitely purchase again!

Loved it. It was able to hold 2 3 gallon pots in each. I put one at the beginning and when the leaves are almost devoured I add the 2nd container.

Easy to open and shut, tight against insect predators. I set mine on its side and zip shut at the bottom so that the caterpillars wont make their chrysalises on the zipper pulls. (They love rough places to do that.)

I love these cages. We have raised hundreds of Monarchs with these. Well made. Easy to store.

I have been helping monarchs for the past few years. Until I really got into it, I was using a homemade habitat. A friend of mine who introduced me to this past time had a few netted habitats that were pretty awesome. Since I have done this now for several summers and am doing it full time in Florida, getting real habitats made sense. In searching the internet, the Restwell offerings looked like what I wanted and were offered at a good price . When they came, I was TOTALLY pleased with them. They popped up easily and held the plants (and cats!) perfectly. The zippered opening allows easy access for cleaning and adding food. The solid plastic side allows me to view whats happening with the cats so the disturbance to their space is minimal. I highly recommend these. The ONLY reason I gave them a 4 star rating for sturdiness is that when I needed to move them, the plants inside were heavy and caused the bottoms to sag. Not a big deal but just something folks should be aware of.
