> 24 hourthis is the second time I replaced the drive on my wii. instillation is extremly simple. find a good youtube video to show you how. Make sure you remember where each screw goes. there are several different sizes and 2 types of screws.

> 24 hourJust keep track of all of the screws and have a three point screwdriver on hand and you can easily swap out your Wii CD player to get it running again. Much easier than replacing just the laser, worth the extra cost.

> 24 hourOur Wii console had the issue where the system would start up and display the Wii menu on the TV, but the tile for the DVD game disc would never load the small preview and would show an error about reading the disc when you tried to select it. After following some detailed drive replacement instructions online (and cursing those Tri-wing screws left and right), I finally got it replaced. The Wii works normally now and the kids have been playing off and on for a couple weeks. So far, so good! My only tip would be to be very careful with the tri-wing screws. Some of mine were in rather tight and both the tri-wing driver and the tri-wing screws would round out and wear out. Ultimately, I had to use my dremel to very carefully cut a straight flat slot in the last tri-wing screw in order to get it out. Then, I did the same to all of the other screws in order to be able to reassemble. If you can find flat or Phillips replacements for the various screws, I would recommended doing that. But that tip is irrelevant of this DVD drive part. So far the part is doing as advertised.

> 24 hourFor years the Wii stopped working. I read about replacing the DVD drive would fix the none active Wii and it did. Now the family is back bowling and golfing at home, lol. You tube video helped with the installation. Also purchase the special screwdriver needed for the Wii, this will make it easier. Thank you

> 24 hourThis item arrived as used. Multiple dents in the housing of the drive. A poor effort was made to conceal all of the scratches with a silver marker. Looks like it was removed from and old console with a poor attempt at reconditioning.

> 24 hourKiddo was using the Wii and after swapping disks, it started choking and not reading them correctly. Quick Google search lead me to some how-to videos so I figured, Im handy, Ill give it a shot. The process itself was pretty simple but it does take some specialized tools. Trust me, I dont think you can avoid using the correct tools. That part took me two trips to get right. That is certainly not the fault of this drive though, thats Nintendo. Once I had what I needed, the installation went well and the new drive fixed the issue for a fraction of what it probably cost to have it repaired professionally. I did end up with an extra screw or three but they apparently werent critical... :)

> 24 hourOrdered this as a replacement for my wii when it kept saying it was “unable to read the disc”. It came as advertised and was easy to install and is still working great!
