This is an excellent processor for gaming. The stock cooler is sufficient even with a mid-range overclock. I undervolted it and overclocked it to 4200 using Ryzen Master and the idle temperatures are in the 40° to 50° c range. Never gets above 75° c when gaming or benchmarking even with the slight overclock. I do also have a case with a lot of fans. I would recommend undervoting it a bit to control the temperature even if you dont plan on playing with anything else. In general I find that this generation of AMD processors are very robust and will tolerate a wide range of voltages and clock speeds, but they seem to be overvolted at stock and run a bit hot.

ordered during prime day, the seal had been opened and the cpu was missing there was only the fan in the box, I was able to get a replacement though

Going from a quad core intel CPU on a laptop to this, is mind blowing. There is no lag or hiccups anywhere, but keep in mind I also use other premium components. I havent overclocked and probably never will as there is no need for my workflow.

This processor is right up there amongst the best on the market for gaming pcs. Its lightning quick and can handle pretty much anything I throw at it. I have coupled it with an RTX 2080S and 16GB of RAM and I am able to blitz through some of the most intensive games (such as Shadow of the Tomb Raider and AC Odyssey) on maximum setting with no issues what so ever.
