> 24 hourtruthfully I have not yet used all of its features. I have no reason to doubt they will work as well as the basic dvd playing that I usually do.

> 24 hourGood product, lately been using these for current builds. As one reviewer said they will play anything, true. The DVD is outdated, the flash drive has replaced it. I still put one in every system. Drop one in and it is plug and play.

> 24 hourI bought this as a replacement for the drive in my neighbors computer. That drive had somehow exploded a disk into hundreds of small fragments that damaged the heads, jammed the drawer, and stalled the spindle so that the motor failed. It couldnt get much deader. This was at a good price on an excellent brand, arrived on time, installed easily, and is running fine for him. Id buy again if I needed another. I have a little over $600 in Asus products in my personally assembled computer. Whatever they build is quality.

> 24 hourWhyyyyy dont they ever package the cables you need WITH these drives? I totally forgot to check if theyre included, and was a bit disappointed when the drive came. Instead of ADDING another burner, I ended up replacing my old one with this. When I get around to eventually ordering more things on Amazon, Ill try to remember to get cables. Theyre too small and cheap to warrant their own shipment/order. SOME drives I see on here do include the $2 cables. Just not this one. The drive itself works good, is quiet etc. I can say it does NOT let DVDShrink run as well as a few other LEGAL copy software. It seems to block this function. I found a way to circumvent this issue, but...again, I shouldnt HAVE to. Its not Asuss job to police what software I run. I own my movie, I can make a back-up. I cant even back up my home movies with this drive. So once I get those pesky addl cables, Ill have two DVD burners, one that allows access to all software. Ive already left a separate review for shipping, but Ill mention it again: this item comes packaged only in a plastic bag that is not sealed. It was sent in my case, with aquarium filters, that leaked charcoal particles all over the inside of shipping box. I found that very unacceptable on Amazons part. Combined shipping is great, but not when you damage items to save money.

> 24 hourI am ordinarily reluctant to purchase anything from an OEM Bulk dealer, even when a name-brand product because I and friends have encountered some disreputable outfits (example: selling video cards as new when they were cryptominer cast-offs). However, the reviews for this particular drive were so positive I decided to gamble. Installation was straight forward and as expected. It is a real ASUS 24F1ST and performs every task Ive put to it with speed and accuracy. Im getting such confidence in it that Im considering using it for archiving, something that Ive wanted to do in the past. Solid build with no unusual sound levels. It has read all media Ive dropped into it without difficulty. I have not used any of the for-fee software available, so I cant comment on whether any compatibility issues arose with them but so far my free stuff has worked without a hiccup. I know many users believe the day of CD/DVD is passed - after all, the internet never crashes, servers are always available, and you never need to reinstall a program in the middle of a business crisis.
