> 24 hourThank you Amazon for having a sale on this portable vacuum cleaner! I just got this about a week ago and only used it once for some light vacuuming of dust and hairs which worked perfectly. As directed by the instructions, I charged it for 24 hours, actually a little bit more, before first usage. I know using it once and plus for light usage doesnt speak well for my review but I want to point out that I have some history with Black and Decker Pivot vacuums. My previous portable vacuum cleaner was also a Black and Decker, specifically PHV1800. I had that vacuum for about 7+ years and I love the suction power and pivot design. Of course since its cordless, the battery wore out over time. Now it only lasts a few minutes after a full charge. However Ive never had an issue with it. In fact I never replaced the filter. I was meticulous in cleaning the canister and filter when it was medium dirty or sometimes even just light dirty. For the filter, I would shake out the dark gray junk and then use a toothpick to pick out the junk in each fold of the filter. Again because of the battery issue I thought it was finally time to retire the old one and buy a new one. I was a little hesitant to buy the BDH2000PL after reading reviews of the vacuum going dead after about a month or so for some unknown reasons. After some consideration, I decided to give Black and Decker the benefit of a doubt based on past experiences. I never had any issues with my previous B&D portable vacuum. Also years ago my family got a B&D Dustbuster and we never had issues then. So I am of the mindset that B&D makes reliable products at good consumer level prices. I like this vacuum so far and yes it hasnt died yet. Battery withstanding, this new one is a big improvement over my old PHV1800. It is a lot lighter and also has less mass. The canister can now be completely removed from the main unit for a thorough cleaning without lugging the the whole thing around like the old one. I like that the brush is now integrated into the nozzle. With the old one, the brush was a separate thing that I left plugged into the charger base and was too lazy or never noticed it to take it out and use it. The pivot feels like it has a smoother ratchet than the old one. One thing that worries me a bit though is the vacuum doesnt sound as loud as my old one. Maybe I am just equating loudness with suction power or I am not knowledgeable of any technology improvements B&D has done to this vacuum. I will just have to use it more to see how it goes. Oh one more thing, my old one actually has two On levels: regular power or high power vacuuming. Whenever I use the vacuum, the old one, I naturally push the switch up to the highest point until it stops. I forgot the old ones switch has a middle point before reaching the end. So I guess for my usage maybe the new one is an improvement because it removes the middle point which I never used. But so far this vacuum works. I also like the improvements over the old one so Im convinced this new one is great. :)

> 24 hourWill this replace your canister vacuum? No. The power is nowhere near what you get out of shop vac or a decent canister. That said, who wants to haul out the vacuum from the closet and drag it into the kitchen to pick up a handful of spilled sesame seeds, or pickup small debris on car mats, or capture a stray dust bunny in a corner. This thing is all about convenience. It’s always handy and easy to deploy. The features are nice and it looks well build. I just hope it lasts because we don’t like the idea of creating more e-waste. B&D should be ashamed that they created a product that uses a non serviceable battery. And we should be ashamed we bought it, but there’s no hand vac we found with replaceable batteries. So good enough piece of cleaning equipment. I suspect better than most.

> 24 hourIm a fan of great design so lets start out with the pluses: I love the adjustable nozzle on this thing and the way it looks and ease of docking in the charging station. Its fairly lightweight too. Now the minuses: I think this was designed for a very quick pick ups--the suction is fantastic in the first 5-10 minutes and then starts dwindling very quickly, even after a full charge. The dirt cup lid opens at a 90° angle which makes it awkward to tap over a garbage can, and usually lets a bunch of the junk I just sucked fall all over the floor. Very aggravating. The lid also accidentally opens sometimes, which is a huge negative when youre trying to clean up, not spread more dirt. The nozzle is nice and wide, but pet hair, bits of wrappers etc. get sucked up and then clogged in the flap that leads to the dirt cup, reducing the suction to nearly 0 and requiring that you stop your task and get a tool to somehow pull that junk out. Overall I would give this five stars for the look and design but two stars for the actual function. Ive had this Hoover hand vac for three years and its a workhorse — I can vacuum nearly an entire 1200 square-foot house on one charge. It has a smaller nozzle, but Ill trade that any day for the suction and performance: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07QF68YTM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

> 24 hourIm disappointed in the battery life. I bought this in 2016 and the battery stopped being useful in 2020. I have to park outside and not near my building. Now when I use this to clean my car, it lasts for about a minute. I turn it off, wait, then try for another minute. I leave it sitting in the charger all the time. Does the cleanliness of the filter have anything to do with the battery life? Are there any handheld vacs that have good reliable battery life?

> 24 hourSuper product and best on the market for suction, width of nozzle, battery/charging power, large canister size, etc etc. Has a washable and very durable filter inside. It is a solidly manufactured, heavyweight monster in a good way. Bends in all different directions. Pricey but worth it in a weird way, see below. Im on my third one. But not for the best reason. The bummer: Ive used for one reason only - to suck up cat litter that my cats toes kick out or drop when the exit the box. In doing so, it also sucks up some of my own hair (bathroom). Sometimes used for kitchen floor corners, but rarely - because it is used for the cat litter box area. In each of the three times Ive purchased the same exact model/unit, it has worked PERFECTLY until just one day you get a loud GRINDING sound and a perfectly electrically smoky smell as though something is burning. Cleaned it out, made sure nothing was stuck in it, was very careful...to no avail. Too late to return to Amazon, and Black and Decker basically doesnt exist if you try to get hold of them to execute on the limited warranty. (Limited because no one answers the phone or replies to emails.) So, whatever, I figured it was a one-off. Ordered another. SAME THING. I mean, I only have to use it MAYBE once a day for less than 30 seconds. Another couple years of keeping it clean and taking good care of it and yep, GRINDING & BURNING SMELL. THIRD time around I ordered a different brand and model. Didnt like it; returned...just not comparable. Ordered three others over a few weeks and none compared to the quality of this Black and Decker. None were as expensive as this one either. Flummoxed, I finally gave in and ordered the THIRD one, which Im currently using. I give it a year. Is it worth the cost? Your decision. For ease of use, quality of suction and all of the above, I think Ill end up buying a new one every couple of years. I dont want to do the math but 30 seconds x 365 days x2 divided by whatever I spent on it is, I guess, worth it. What really bums me out is the massive plastic waste - not earth friendly. Nothing sucks up cat litter (or small particles) as this one does, not even a hand broom. So, dont say I didnt tell you. When I ordered a replacement the second time, I saw that some others had the same experience. Yet, others loved it. All I can say is that at this point, I agree with both. Even those who experienced this major flaw say that it is an otherwise excellent, superior, product. Keep the box and receipt, and the box it was mailed to you in, in case it dies on you and you want to return before the Amazon return period ends.

> 24 hourA good design that works well. Construction is definitely a step above the lower priced vacs. The only addition I think would be useful would be a wider attachment since this has so much suction.

> 24 hourI purchased this last August and had a problem with it recently. I contacted their representative and they took my information and promptly sent me a replacement with no questions asked. I really like this for my small apartment and recommend their products.
