The initial setup for printing from my desktop and laptop was very easy, however, I am still trying to get the scanning to work.

not an easy set up. so there you go. get a your own risk, prints real nice, but the tray does hold a lot of paper. tray is hard to get in and out to fill. Not only that, You better get on a plan to get black ink cartridges on a regular bases, You dont have an extra, You cant get one very soon. weve been out for 2 or 3 weeks. out of stock. Maybe there is a better way, but I have not found one

Printer to PC connection cable (USB) should have been included. How to connect without it? I am forced to to buy one. Ethernet connection port is not found on the printer. - What happened?

The Brother MFC-J1010DW Wireless Color Inkjet All-in-One Printer with Mobile Device and Duplex Printing caught my eye because of the price and the duplex printing. I looked at the reviews and since my hp envy stopped working and I needed to scan something to email so I picked it up. I get it and of course there is a app. Download the app and put the ink in and plug er in. All is fine up to this point. First thing... wont connect to my wifi, it tells you to use the app for this. The app didnt work. No worries there is a option on the printer itself. After a long hour of messing with it I get it to connect. Now it needs a firmware update. I tell it yes Id like the newest firmware...,. Make it happen. Oof, it needs some random password that wS not set by me. I ended up finding it on the back. Let me tell you, the frustration at this point is through the roof. Who the hell puts a random password on there item, doesnt tell you its there and expects you to just know. Ok ok no worries I got it online and updated. Now lets get my documents scanned to my email........ well, did that a hour ago. Still no emails. Oh and remember that app. Its completely junk. You need to register it though the app to be able to use the app. It wont! Ive tried everything I can think of including manually typing in the IP address of the printer. Nothing. Now it wont even let me search in the area it has for you to put the ip address in. Look, my phone recognized it when I tried to print a email a d the print looks good but sa e yourself some agony. Buy something else

Do not purchase!! Printer will not print unless all 4 cartridges have ink. Will not print in either grayscale or black and white.

I thought my last HP Brother was bad, this one has it beat. Usually after 6 months with this brand of starts to be offline and won’t print until you run a whole troubleshooting and then uninstall and reinstall. This was doing it after the first week and had continued to do it for the last 4 weeks. I’ve wasted so much time fixing this stupid printer and being frustrated at it instead of getting actual work done. Also, it’s not touchscreen so trying to put in a WiFi password is really really annoying. You have to use the keypad if you want a letter, its horrible. Do not get this printer! Save yourself the stress

This Brother product is terrible. Hadnt had a Brother product in awhile and regret buying this printer. The setup process is out of the early 90s, talking about dial up, and not very compatible with a Mac. After setting up the printer, the next day it decided to not function again. Had to go through the whole process of setting up the driver again. I wouldnt buy another Brother product. Advice to look into HP or another brand for your printing needs.

I was disappointed in how difficult it was to hook to wifi. It said it could be directly connected to laptop but not for the model received. Uses ink excessively. Copies are excellent though and fairly quickly.
