First things first, this label printer takes 6 x AAA batteries, so be sure to stock up as they are not included. But thats the only bad point. Setup is a breeze, you simply pop in your batteries, load up the ribbon cartridge supplied, and you are locked and loaded and ready to craft. The printer comes with a cartridge that is pre-loaded with white ribbon, and gold ink. So basically you can print gold on white. The available designs are fantastic, so this would be a great gizmo to have if you are using a lot of ribbons. It is also worth knowing that you can buy a huge variety labels to print (eBay is good for this) that cost around £4 per cartridge. Including sticky labels for general use. It is simple to change the cartridge, they just pop out with no fuss. This will get plenty of use in our house for everything from cake toppers, to general household labelling. And for less than £40 it is very well priced.

This is so easy to use. It has a qwerty keyboard so it makes it easier and can be used on a table using both hands. The cartridge it comes with is white ribbon. I think it would have been better with a ordinary white cartridge to start you off. It is a sturdy item and looks good. Takes 6 AAA batteries. The print is bold and clear. Plenty of options for font and size. Plus patterns. It will print on two lines for smaller labels. I am a crafter so I can use it on my handmade cards. I have used it for my boxes and folders. I have now started labelling my baking containers. A vey hand gadget to have. I am really pleased with it.

Brilliant for labelling the back to school stationary! In COVID climate I dont want my children sharing supplies/wondering which bits are theirs so labelling all the stationary etc has been super easy. Slight bug bear is that I can see that the printed letters and symbols are likely to wear off the buttons very quickly...I really like the idea of being able to print on ribbon to personalise a gift or wrapping.

I just received my label maker today and already printed a lot of labels. It has 3 font sizes (small to large), about 9 fonts, and several designs/borders you can choose from. I absolutely adore this machine! It comes with a plain white ribbon too (although I havent tried it on the ribbon yet).

Great item, purchased for my daughter. Although it came with ribbon it would be better to come with tape

This is great if you really like labelling things and making present ribbons and name tapes for your childrens clothes. I do think you need to be a serious crafter or have a lot of children to make name tapes for to make this worthwhile. This is because to print the tapes you need to but cassettes (and yes they look very like the tape recorder cassettes of yore) that contain ribbon and ink for printing. The tapes seem to range in price from £6 to about £30 (for a 2 or 3 coloured tape pack). You can buy ribbon tape in a wide range of colours, transparent tape and iron on tape from the Brother website (and also from some other websites) so its not that cheap to produce your tapes but it does produce a wide range of results. It comes with one ribbon cassette to get you started. It takes 6AAA batteries (not supplied) but you can buy a plug in adapter for about £15 if you use the printer a lot. It is easy to use - you take the back off, slot in the cassette. replace the cover, select the font you want to use and off you go and you cut the ribbon when you have sufficient length. Its kind of fun but a bit too pricey (£39.99 atm) if you think you might only use it for clothing tapes and /or the odd personalised gift ribbon. It would be a good thing for a craft group or group of parents to have or someone who crafts and gifts a lot. It seems very retro in this day and age to have a handheld labeller. It is fun though except I found the qwerty keyboard a bit trying to use with my stubby fingers
