I ordered this for a trip to Chicago with my family. My daughter is 6 years old and 48 inches tall. She still needs a booster, and I needed a portable option for uber-ing around the city. This was perfect! It positioned the belt perfectly across her lap, and the shoulder adjustment was super easy to slide from side to side for different cars (I do realize it needs a slight adjustment in this pic, which I did but did not retake photo). It also fit in small middle seats between two adults, including the center seat on the third row of a mini-van. My child needed help from an adult to buckle in properly, but my 10 and 12 year olds were able with some coaching to figure out how to help their sister buckle in. It doubled as a “booster” in restaurants with deep chairs. My daughter loved her seat and said it was comfortable. It easily inflated with just a couple breaths, and easily deflated. It helped to close the valve to keep it deflated because it will partially inflate when you open it. Once rolled up and in its bag, the booster fit in my Kavu bag with a little room to spare for other items. This seat was absolutely perfect for our trip, and I plan to keep it in my van for spontaneous play dates. The only thing I would change is to make the drawstring on the carrying bag more substantial or add a loop so that you can easily hang it from a bag with a caribiner. I ended up tying loops in the drawstring and attaching it to the outside of my bag because some days I needed the space in my Kavu for kids’ jackets. If I took a smaller purse to dinner, my husband just carried it in his hand, so some kind of handle would have been nice.

You know those pool toys you’re racing against your breath because it starts to deflate immediately once your breath decreases? This is the same. But, I needed a super narrow seat in between two bulky convertible seats. It did the job. We had to buckle first, then shove the seat under, but we squished and survived. For travel, perfect.

I like that this product is very, light, easy, and very handy. We used it when we travel and needs to use uber or lyft. What i dont like it is its too low a little higher and bigger would have been great. By the way my daughter used this when we went to Disney world and had to wait for the parade. She was able to use this to seat on the pavement.

Just got back from a 4-day trip using the BubbleBum booster seats. We bought two for our 4 year old twin girls (weighing approximately 43 lbs each). We tried the booster seats out in our car first, to make sure they were comfortable. We packed them in our checked luggage and got them out at the rental car facility. Easy installation in a minivan. The girls were not able to thread the seat belt through the red clips, so we had to help them each time. They could also easily push the seat belt release, so we had to explain to them that was not safe and didn’t have any problems while riding in the car. We also had to explain that the shoulder strap needed to be across their chest for safety. (They are use to sitting in a Britax Marathon, which they can buckle-up themselves, with 5-point harness). Overall, we are very pleased with the product. Our car trips were typically 15 minutes to 1 hour long and the girls didn’t complain about being uncomfortable. They actually fell asleep a few times. We’re glad we didn’t have to pay the $10 per day, per car seat to the rental company, and we look forward to using these boosters to give friends a lift or for use in friend’s/ relative’s cars. We will continue to use our Britax Marathon convertible car seats until they reach the weight/height limits though.

Bought this for my grandkids and the issue I have is it slides out from under them as we are traveling. I don’t feel it is as secure as a regular seat. I love the size of it and makes it easy to get multiple seats in the car but if it keeps sliding I don’t believe it is as safe as other seats.

I am giving this five stars because it does what I think it is designed to do: serves as a stopgap measure when no other option is available. This is no way is adequate for anything other than short rides when you cannnot carry a proper booster seat. We used it for four cab rides - one to hotel from airport, one back to airport from hotel and two short urban cab rides while in city we were visiting. It does not boost very high, slides easily and can position seatbelt appropriately with some care and attention while child focuses on not moving around much. Both the seat, and the child on the seat, and the belt positioner move around easily and children need to focus to make sure everything is in the right place. If you cannot carry a regular booster seat with you this is a good tool to make sure that rides are safer. But you should never consider this a replacement for a booster seat for regular travel that extends beyond short trips. Our son is eight and about 58 pounds and still requires a belt positioner to have everything at the correct height. I included picture from three cab rides. The belt positioner should be lower in third picture. It was the first time I used it and did not have height correct. Good for travel conundrums or very short rides where regular seat is difficult or impossible to manage. Requires help by adult installing seat and positioning things correctly but also cooperative child who will sit still.

While the concept is lovely for travel, the seat didn’t stay in place. It slid out from underneath my kids butts and proved useless on the first ride in our rental car. We drove straight to a big box store and bought replacement seats with a base that doesn’t slide. Even with the strap in the clips on the sides and the back strap for the shoulder strap, it just gets tangled once the kids started to slide. Just as a note for future buyers: This might be my own poor understanding of the product description and photos, but I had thought the inflatable portion was optional and there was still some structure to the seat. I would have not purchased the seat had I known it doesn’t have any structure aside from the air you put in it.

I was surprised at how little this inflates. It barely boosts them up at all. It does, however, direct the seatbelt nicely over the child’s lap and chest.

I use this booster with a 7 and 9 year old in a Porsche 911. With it, the 7 year old goes in the back and the 9 year old can go in the front (with the airbag disabled and the seat all the way back). Installation is fiddly, theres no doubt about it. There are three clips: one on either side of the booster and one attached to an adjustable strap for the shoulder belt. All of them should be used to maximize safety. The booster seat clip nearest the boor pillar can be left attached to the seatbelt, as can the shoulder belt clip. The booster seat clip nearest the seatbelt buckle must be inserted into the belt each time the seatbelt is fastened and consequently must be undone each time the seatbelt is unfastened. For an adult, this is fiddly. For my children, it is impossible so far, so they need my assistance to buckle unbuckle (which could be considered a good thing.) The adjustable strap for the shoulder belt clip must be adjusted to ensure that the shoulder belt hits the shoulder area so that the child cannot slip under/out of the shoulder belt in the event of an impact. I have not had occasion to use the portable nature of the seat, but it is nice to know that I can have it with me at all times in the car and not have it take up valuable space.

I have two Bubble Bums and while I have a couple of qualms with it, it is still deserving of 5 stars. I travel a lot with my daughter and we use Uber a lot. The Bubble Bum, when deflated, fits in a larger handbag. We pull it out, inflate in a few seconds, jump in our Uber, buckle up, done. I recommend this seat to so many people. Here are my problems with the seat: It needs a better system for rolling up and securing with the belt strap. We’ve made it work, but this is a design flaw. After rolling up a bunch of times (probably 60+), the seat wouldn’t inflate all the way and didn’t feel as secure as it was lumpy (from the rolling). The side buckles for the seatbelt take a couple of moments to get onto the seatbelt and, while my 10-yr old can do it, my 6-yr old cannot, so plan to help the kids into the seat. Finally, I find the belt-positioning strap has to be reset every single installation (which is a lot when using 5-6 Uber’s/day). Because we also use the strap to keep the seat rolled up, it is off from th shoulder height ‘setting’ for our kid. This isn’t a flaw, just annoying. I wish there were a button, hook and loop closure, or eleastic band to keep it rolled. The bag it comes with is great for traveling. When not traveling, we keep a Bubble Bum in our car for school pick-up when friends tag along.
