Bundle Includes Soldering Station and CHP170 Cutter

I recently lost my 30 year old Weller WP35 in a house move, which severd my needs well all that time. I replaced it with the orange Sealody only to find out replacement tips are impossible to find or entirely nonexistent. Returned it and bought this. This is perfect for building amps and wiring electric guitars. Don’t waste time trying to save a few bucks, get this.

Very good iron, only problem is the manual does not provide a full explanation of the configuration. The seller actually added their own page with instructions but Ive found that Youtube has a rich set of videos explaining all the settings in a better way. As an example, no manual talks about the reset (press UP and ENTER at the same time during power on till A appears, select U and press ENTER) and the HAKKO manual does not really mention how to get into or use the configuration menus. All this info can be found in very informative videos on Youtube so watch those first before you use it (or accidentally screw up the calibration like I did)

this is a great soldering station...makes soldering easy

When I received the Hakko FX888D soldering station, I immediately used it on a project that involved 220+ desoldering and 220+ soldering connections over a 3-day period. This soldering station worked wonderfully, coming up to precisely the temperature that I selected very quickly. The soldering station came packaged carefully from the manufacturer in a small cardbox box with an instruction manual that I would say is about a 7 on my scale of ease of understanding/clarity/accuracy. The mid-size, chisel tip that came with this soldering station worked very efficiently/very well for the non-surface mount soldering job I completed. The tips are very economical -- I was able to purchase separately on Amazon a combo package with 5 hakko tips in different sizes for this soldering station for about $20 -- thats just $4 per tip!!! (IN contrast, the Metcal tips I recently purchased for my office cost $20 a piece here on Amazon and over $30 a piece at a local store.) This Hakko soldering station seems to be as well built as the digital Welder and Metcal soldering stations I use at work, and it costs only a fraction of what those other brands cost. This is my first Hakko item, but I was so happy with the product, I ordered a bunch of other Hakko products for my office.

I have been using cheap soldering irons that are a pain in a$$ to use they dont stay hot enough to flow the solder. This hakko is amazing it heats to temp in less that 45 seconds and stays hot it is a pleasure to work with and I look forward to soldering now. I love this iron. I got mine from ness electronics as I know they have the real hakko and not the fake knock off

I think I got a knock off. It heats soldering points so slowly even on the highest setting. Next to a cheap Weller, this thing is borderline unusable. Too late to return :/

I used a wall plug soldering pen and then switched to this unit and the difference between the wall plug in pen and this Hakko station is night and day. If you have troubles soldering or de-soldering you will most likely need a temperature adjustable unit like this one. The Hakko soldering station is a good one for general use there are better ones, but this one meets the standard requirements in my opinion (comes with one chisel tip, sponge,wire cleaning tip the brass colored wire thing). The iron heats up in about 20-30 seconds and it is ready to solder, easy interchangeable tips and nice detached iron holster. The overall footprint is small, so bench space wasted with this station is very little. Overall, great buy to improve soldering quality with a noticeable difference without a doubt.
