Great switch in many ways, but very small and light with a plug that is a USB mini attachment that comes unplugged very easily. Some issues with the switch not being recognized on the Ethernet network by some computers further away. Flips over easily from the weight of cables or anything else pulling on it and that can make it come unplugged. It works, but these other things make it annoying.

We put this switch in service as soon as we got it. It looks and feels like a nice quality product and seems to be doing the job.

Bought for a client who had a need for splitting a single cable between 4 machines in the backroom. The response is fine, and the device does not heat up like the predecessor. Going on 12 weeks of uninterrupted service - no power-cycling needed or problems arising from collisions.

As described, has the promised number of ports, plug in power, plug in Ethernet jacks, viola, connectivity. Hurrah, hurrah. It *says* that its a lot better than I have any way of testing and maybe it is. If you have a 100mb network that has 8 (more than 5, anyway) devices and want the promise of 1gb connection when you get faster devices, this box provides that. To see does it actually deliver 1gb connectivity and under what circumstances, youll have to read another review or test it yourself.

This is two dollars worth of material glued together in a factory. Did not work or even power on out of the box. I was so disappointed I just threw it away rather than bothering to look at it another few seconds as I packed it for return. Dont bother. Spend a little more for something reliable, and make sure it has a metal shell at least.

Just by plugging in the power with no ethernet connected to the device, it totally shuts down my Uverse Wi-Fi network. It must be emitting some radio frequency that is in the 5 ghz range.

Wife did not like the winky blinky lights from the old switch. Admittedly, they were a bit distracting. This never bothered me. As an IT guy, I liked the feedback of happy connections. Anyway, this one is not as obnoxious (her word) and works just fine. Minor gripe is, as others report, this is a light weight unit and really just slides around as the attached cable tension takes it. Also, the power connection coming in on the side of the unit might cause some placement issues. Neither issue is a big deal. This is a good unit for home theater but would not use it in a IT situation.

Didnt have to do anything, except plug everything in and everything worked just perfectly. Needed more hardwired spaces and this did the trick. Appears to flow seamlessly bet devices with no speed degradation apparent.

I bought two of these and so far they have done good service. I particularly like the green aspect of reducing power consumption whenever possible.
