DataShark Network Cable Tester - Cable Mapper, Check Continuity - Test Patch Cords or Installed Cable Runs

Needed to trace some preinstalled LAN cables to set up my home network. Worked like a champ and determined the cables were good to boot. Also comes with a case for storage, battery and two patch cords. Just what the doctor ordered and at a decent price.

Bought this to test Cat5 connectors on a whole-house stereo installation. Ive left it to chance before and had a couple of bad connectors that resulted in unreliable operation of the keypads. This takes the guess work out of the project - you might be surprised how many of the male Cat5 connectors are bad - I had to replace 3 of 24 which would have resulted in headaches down the road when access was much more difficult. I also discovered a damaged length of Cat5 cable that must have been crushed and was causing intermittent shorts. For the small investment, this is a fantastic tool.

Handy little gaget

Straight forward to use, checks for all mistakes. Found my green and white wire vs blue and white wire first-try mistake, streaming upstairs now activated, fine product

Works just like it says. Was able to test the lines as I was installing them and everything worked perfect once the computer and set top box were connected.

Make running ethernet a lot easier when you are a novice and working by yourself.

I purchased this to test new network cables I was installing with new RJ45 plugs on each end. The tester worked well and clearly identified whether the cables and connections were good and where I had problems. I had one connector where one of the wires had broke, probably when stripping the insulation from the outer cable. The tester quickly identified the problem and I was able to quickly correct the problem. The tester worked great and seems to be made well. I would recommend this for anyone installing network cables.

For the price, I expected to have issues with the product. I recently moved into a newly constructed home and got the pre-wire whole house ethernet option, out of the 7 drops, only 1 drop was installed correctly. The Paladin Tool helped me find quickly find the faulty installation rather then plugging in a laptop to verify connectivity. I would definitely would recommend this tool, especially that for this price.

I used it to test my cable connection. The tester shows that everything is fine, whilst in real life the connection is not strong enough to pass through data.
