I bought a few replacements belts in the past and they never lasted more than a few times mowing. I was all but ready to buy a craftsman original until I read the post that a fellow used it on a craftsman DYS 4500 and had great luck. I have the same mower DYS 4500 so I thought I give it a try. The belt is slightly longer than the original, but it’s slightly thicker so it takes up the slack. I mowed about 15 times just under a acre of lawn. Shows no signs of wear. Just ordered a spare one. I was going to order two but thought this one is working so well why do I need two spares. Special thanks to the poster with the DYS 4500.

Bought two, because one is none and two of one, when you need a replacement part. Both broke way too easily. Dont waste your money.

Seems a much better quality belt than the manufacturer installed. The tractor design is not the best but replacing the original with this belt was not the drama that several YouTube videos would lead you to believe - a bit tedious but not difficult. Tractor performs like new. We will see how long the belt lasts.

Easy to install. Works on Craftsman 917.289101. This drives the mower blades, not the belt you need to propel the mower forward and backward.

Fit perfect on my Craftsman riding mower and the price was right.

I have been hunting for a belt that fits my riding lawnmower correctly for months. For some reason they did not fit correctly, to tight to loose. All with the same measurements that this one has. For some reason this one is just right.

The outer liner shred apart and started slipping off before finishing one full cut of my lawn! I took the time to adjust the tension before started as well!

I bought this to replace an old belt on my mower. Its a Craftsman DYS 4500, model number 917 287251. Pros 1. Worked and fit like a charm. 2. Mower performance was better with a nice, tight, new belt. Cons 1. None. If you have the same mower, this will fit no problem. Hope that helps. Cant speak to long term durability but it has lasted a year so far so heres hoping.
