I have a 21 Apple iMac and wanted to go dual screens. This one is the best match I could find. It is the same size screen and same black bezel and aluminum stand. To connect it I had to purchase from Apple their Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter and a standard DVI monitor cable. With those two items in hand, I plugged the Apple adapter into one of my Firewire ports and the DVI cable to it and then the monitor. My iMac automatically recognized it and now I have dual screens! Nice.

I spent the last month studying monitors in the 23-24 range and finally settled on this unit, as I have good luck with Dell monitors. My primary use is home applications and gaming (Crysis, Sins of a Solar Empire, Star Craft, etc...). Out of the box it came nearly completely calibrated...only very minor updates made. Nice clean look and terrific flexibility in the stand (tilt, height, swivel, horizontal to vertical). Also considered the mid-range of Asus, HP, Dell, and BenQ.

This is a great monitor for business use. I was put off by some of the negative reviews but decided to buy it anyway since it was so cheap. When the monitor first arrived, the white background appeared slightly yellow-ish at the bottom. I was ready to return it but remembered that sometimes computer screens (cellphone screens as well) need to work for a few days for the color to show correctly. Im glad I waited it out--the white is perfect now and I absolutely love this monitor. When my clients see it they often comment on how large it is, because I have it in portrait mode. I highly recommend this monitor. After you buy it, give it a week or two for the color to set in. You can always return it if you dont like it, but I am here to tell you: this monitor is fantastic.

I run a three-monitor setup at home, all Samsung 206BW (16:10) displays from a few years ago. When one failed, I set out to replace it with a 1080p display and settled on this Dell. In short, this has turned out to be a fantastic display with very good clarity, very even backlighting and excellent color reproduction (owing to its IPS panel, vs. the TN panels in my old Samsungs). I was a little concerned about the response time as I also play games, but I notice no ghosting or lag at all during gameplay. Do note, however, that Im not into twitch games or fighting games where ultra-low lag would be most important. Its worth mentioning to others considering a purchase that text looked absolutely horrendous on this Dell right out of the box, which is unusual in my experience. It turns out that this was due to the monitors Image Enhance feature which comes turned on by default. Turn this feature off immediately, then calibrate both color and ClearType text (if on Windows) and you should have an excellent picture.

VGA source not found message, because of trying to use display port. Powering off in 2 minutes. A link for dell support is on the screen, but it doesnt take you useful information. Use the 4 buttons on the right side of monitor to change the display input settings. This is a huge oversight in the very basic install picture instructions that would save lots of time. Great for its anti-glare properties and adjustability.

The product (monitor) was fine, was delivered even earlier than expected, but it just wasnt a fit for my system. Great company to buy from and I will order again. Thanks Mike!

At first I bought this monitor just as a temporary monitor until I buy a legit, bigger monitor because I was planning on using dual monitors and use this one as a sub monitor since it can pivot and rotate 180. A month after I got this DELL monitor I bought BENQ gaming monitor. As I planned, I started using BENQ as a main and this one as a sub (rotated). However, while I was playing bunch of 3D steam games, (resident evil 6, witcher 3 etc) I realized that this DELL monitor was the real bad-ass. Of course BENQs bigger, but the color is just not as good as that of DELLs. Ive been using the standard stock setting for my DELL monitor and the clearness, sharpness and color temperature blah blah (I dont know much about this color related jargon so Imma just skip) are JUST SOOOOOOOO Amazing and WAAAAAy better. I have tried every single options for the BenQ monitor (Hue Temp Contrast Saturation bla bla whateva) but It never had same amazing feeling as Dells heavenly screen. I dont even know how to put this but its like watching DELLs monitor is like looking at a nicely cut chocolate squares while watching other monitors are like watching the same thing but all melted and squashed.. I mean this monitor is not even ULTRA SHARP model yet it has the best screen quality and color I have ever experienced. Bottom line, I ended up using this as a main monitor and the bigger gaming monitor as a sub monitor on the side.. cause I would rather play games with smaller screen with better quality than bigger, less fine quality. So I guess that pretty much explains how freakin awesome this monitor is. It was on sale and I got this for $159, and I think this monitor worth way more than that. I would even pay $300 for this monitor if I break mine and have to buy again (and if the price went up). Dont hesitate and just buy this. U WONT REGRET!

This is a great monitor. It has a sturdy stand. Images are bright, clear and sharp, although overly bright with the out of box settings. Currently set brightness 10 and contrast 78. i am using the DVI input although that is the one cable not included. I would have given this a 5 out of 5 except for one thing. I cannot figure out how to register this for the warranty! Dell website requires a 7 digit service tag number and then goes on to say that most monitors do not have a service tag number and this is one that does not! I have an account with Dell but it only wants to access products already purchased.

With all of the monitors out there today, its hard to tell the good from the bad without performing extensive research. This research needs to be combined with a bit of luck as it would be cost prohibitive for every site to cover the full product line from multiple manufacturers. The monitor that was replaced by the Dell P2014H was a 23 LG with an IPS panel. My prior effort to use a HP w2071d to achieve the desired resolution for a budget computer system resulted in excessive visual fatigue that would be exacerbated when dark images would appear. The backlighting on that 20 inch monitor was abysmal. My priorities for the display were: 1.) IPS panel 2.) 1600x900 resolution 3.) Digital input The Dell P2014H appeared to be the best of breed based on the aforementioned criteria. The overall image quality and performance is absolutely fantastic, especially at the price point that Amazon sells it for. On top of a solid image with fairly balanced backlighting (tad bit lighter in the lower right-hand corner, but not distracting or outside of expectations in this range), you get additional features that come in handy: 1.) Integrated USB hub: Using an AmazonBasics keyboard, the integrated USB cord was a bit too short for the placement of the mid-tower. Running the keyboard through the integrated hub resolved this issue, and made it easier to connect additional peripherals. 2.) Rotating display: While it would be nice to have an accelerometer or gyroscope to allow the monitor to auto-trigger the shift from portrait to landscape format, two clicks of the mouse and a quick 90 degree rotation of the monitor completely changes the dynamic of viewing websites, reading long documents, and even developing websites. The text is crisp and the mechanics of rotating the monitor results in a smooth and effortless adjustment. 3.) Adjustable height. The Dell engineers have built a solid and user-friendly stand that permits modification on the fly. Monitors that cost more than the P2014H are normally bound to a fixed stand and may result in discomfort of the neck during extended use. Be sure to download the latest utilities and drivers from Dells site to further optimize the image quality and power consumption of this display.
