Drill America 3/8-16 UNC High Speed Steel Tap Set

Was just tapping aluminum, but did a great job. Had some mounting bolt threads that stripped on a Kohler engine. I drilled them deeper, and tapped with this set. The bottoming tap gave me a few more threads to screw in to.

The taps look OK. I have not yet used them. However, a set of 3 was advertised and I only got 2 in the package. It was not worth the effort to try to return them, but I feel cheated.

This three tap set could be very useful however the set was supposed to include a taper, plug, and bottoming tap. The set I received included two taper and one plug tap. No bottoming tap was included.

I spent over 10 years in a machine shop and can say these are legit taps. Not the cheap carbon ones...these are HSS and ground well. True gun tap, bottom tap and plug taps.

havent used them much but they work as expected and have not broken yet.

Arrived in good time, and used in Aluminum material tapped gave a great thread.

One of the taps (the bottoming tap) fell out of the box some time before it got put into the bubble-bag for shipping. If I had _really_ needed the bottom tap I would have raised an issue with the seller but the other two taps did the job for me (it was a through-hole that I ended up using in both cases). Perhaps they could make sure that all of the tap boxes are taped before shipping.... NOTE: You do NOT have to send me a replacement tap!!! This is the first time in my life that Ive needed a 4-48 tap. (for storage spots for the little flat & ball-ended tips of a dial indicator and a little electronic height gauge)

cant have to many 1/4x20 taps

I ordered a set of three and just got two. Thats unacceptable

I needed a tap that would thread deeper than the shank. The ones in the illustration would do that. The 1/4-20 taps that were delivered will not. That said, these taps are nicely made and should work well for a lot of applications.
