Works fine in Linux. I wanted this for bit-bang mode at various voltages (just set lines high or low, instead of using serial). This works using libftdi / pylibftdi. You only get four lines in/out: TXD (least-significant), RXD, RTS, and CTS. VCC and Ground take up two pins. Keep in mind that to use bit-bang mode, youre need to disable any serial hookup: rmmod ftdi_sio

Worked like a charm to update firmware on a telemetry radio set

I picked this over other cables/converters mostly for the voltage selector, and it worked perfectly for my use case. I wasnt entirely sure which voltage my project required, so having a selector was great -- it also allows it to be reused for multiple projects. The cable it comes with doesnt fit all the way onto the pin header cause it seems to be getting stuck on the plastic case; but that wasnt a deal breaker for me, and my individual Dupont wires connected and pushed all the way onto the header just fine.

I found this device after enormous tries and failures to identify a product that will meet my needs. Purchased a dozen of these and all are working well in a harsh environment of a hot aisle Needed to do a rework to add DTR pin. It was easy to work with material and the cover.

Made it easy to connect to serial port header of old wifi router, which allowed me to load open-source firmware (dd-wrt) onto it.

My original USB TTL dongle also purchased on Amazon over a year ago was apparently bad from reading reviews of that item. I decided to spend a few extra bucks and get a better version since I do a lot with routers and messing with OpenWRT. Also into Raspberry Pi now so I figured Id get a good one this time. Worked perfectly and I saved my EdgeRouterX last night. Just remember you have to cross the TXD and RXD connections for it to work. Also look on YouTube for tutorials and specifics for your model device.

This unit is very well made and comes in a protective see thru case. It has a jumper to select either 3v or 5v device to program. I bought it to program my esp32 camera and it worked great.

Simply a cut above the typical red bare pcb ones you see in so many tutorials. Used it once so far to flash tasmota onto a knock off sonoff 4 relay board, worked great. The case, options, harness etc makes this one the ftdi adapter to get IMO.

Picked this up for the adjustable voltage settings as my old one only supported 5v. I used this to flash Tasmota onto a Sonoff S31(ESP8266) and it worked perfectly. It is compatible with Linux and worked as-is without installing new drivers.
