eMedia My Violin - Learn at Home

This product, DVD, for violin instruction is simply bad !! This product is very very basic. You can go online to YouTube, type in violin instruction and watch several videos for FREE and obtain a better lesson. Search violin parts for the beginnner, violin techniques for the beginner, first violin songs for the beginner etc... You can do this for free and get a better lesson. I purchased this for my daughter. I watched it once and it was horrible !! They have a nice yet old lady to play the violin. She DOES NOT capture the childs attention !!! My child would not watch the video it was so boring. This video is the equivalent of your childs first lesson for $15 or $20 bucks. Not only this, if you have simply 2 or 3 months of prior piano lessons 20 years in the past and you watch about 1 hours of videos for fee on line. You could teach your child or yourself everything in this CD. Simply this DVD is crap, take it from experience it is not worth the money. If and only if, you live 200 miles from your nearest violin instructor and you have NO experience with anything remotely similar to music instruction then you might want to buy this. I took piano for one semester in college 30 years ago and I am more than easily able to give my child more instruction than this video can !!!! Plese read the prior sentence several times. I am very serious about this.

Using for homeschool.Easy to understand for all ages!!!

Cool little program, but my daughter was half way through the lessons in about 20 mins. Tuner in program is inaccurate, some of the lessons are annoying and repetitive. I would save the $$ and just go on and spend it on lessons.

I have always wanted to learn to play the violin, and happened to recently recieve one.

Originally, I could not get this to install on my mac x10.7 but I was able to get it to run on my Win7 system. However, I recently found a solution that would allow me to install the latest version from the manufacturers website: [...] which did work and actually runs and looks better on the mac than on the PC. My only remaining problem is that since I have a macbook air, I need a CD rom drive for the software to access the video clips. So now Im having to look at buying an $80 superdrive to use the software but other mac users that have built in CD drives shouldnt have this problem. Another problem that has been resolved is the Val character is talking now rather than just sitting there blinking. Shes still a little slow to get started talking when you first begin a lesson but eventually she will read the words on the screen. I still think the games in this package will be very helpful to my daughter in learning to read music regardless of whether it is for violin or any other instrument. I have yet to work with my 5 year old with the software but am looking forward to being able to do this. At the moment I have high hopes that she will enjoy and get something out of this software. Suggestions to emedia on their next version would be to upgrade the graphics even further, add subtitles to the video because its difficult to understand the instructor who has a thick german accent, and perhaps do a little more with Val to help keep the kids interest levels up. On a side note, Amazon shipping was much faster than usual on this item. Id ordered it on a Saturday and it arrived the following Monday. Incredible delivery speed! Thanks Amazon.

This video was gift for a girl 5 years old, who is beginning to study the violin. It was perfect for her, she is enjoying a lot!

This is a terrific product. Not enough words to tell you how good, you should not be sorry! Purchased for my 4 1/2 year old grandson and Nan enjoyed as well!

Im leaving this one up to my daughter she knows more about it. She thinks ithis tem is great, makes it easier then just teaching from what she remembers.

Ive always wanted to learn to play the violin so about a month ago I broke down and bought my instrument. The next step was to find lessons and I looked all over. Bottom line: Every instructor was in high demand and lessons were expensive, about $30 for a 1/2 hour.
