Im using this because I wanted a high-gain antenna and the body panels on my Bronco are too tight to put coax thru for a front fender mount. May have to buy another one and co-phase them. Mounting point is just behind the door.

Most of the people in our off road trail group has these and were very pleased with the performance, installed very easily and quality was great. Would highly recommend.

If youre going to put this where the wind stream will load up your antenna, youll need to use an antenna 4 or less and preferably a small diameter one like Firestik Firefly. The black outer plastic shell is just that - a shell. It wont take the stresses of driving into high headwinds on the interstate with a thick 5 fiberglass antenna attached. I also get the distinct impression that this mount is weaker if mounted on the side of the vehicle than if you mount it on the back. In other words, it takes less stress side ways then front-to-back. I strongly suggest investing in an antenna spring if you use a 3 or 4 foot stick. Heres the one I used: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00042LC9M/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_17 Another reviewer indicated that he filled his mount with fiberglass epoxy. I chose this route too adding about $7 to my costs and purchasing considerably more valuable peace of mind. I will be using this mount on my Jeep Wrangler off-road with a 5 fiberglass antenna. I will also be driving at interstate speeds through our notoriously windy mountains with a 3 footer. When I contemplate a typical 40MPH headwind gust added to 75MPH road speed, I dont need a mount failing and an antenna flying off and striking other motorists. If you chose to reinforce the mount with epoxy, I suggest the two tube plunger style you can get from any lumber or hardware store. I chose a 5 minute epoxy at Home Depot that is made specifically to bond with plastics and used a toothpick to mix it up thoroughly in the body of the mount. Be sure to do a **thorough** mixing job or you will be disappointed with the results and will get a very weak bond. I suggest doing one chamber at a time so youre not rushed. You can tell when youve done a good job mixing the epoxy because it throws off a good amount of heat as it cures The coax seems to be of good quality. I ended up using a quick disconnect (http://www.amazon.com/FireStik-K-1A-Push-n-Twist-quick-disconnect/dp/B000UTQUAK/) with the spring mount. With the FireStik FL3 3 stick I was able to get a SWR of 1.2 on CB channel 20 with 1.3 at channels 1 and 40. As mentioned above, I use a 5 Firestik for off road use (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000X3EP7I/) and got a SWR of 1.1 across all channels. Mounting position was above and slightly right of center of the passenger side tail light on the Wrangler TJ.

Mounted cb antenna on body of Jeep. Worked out nicely. Only issue I had is the surface to the antenna it beveled slightly causing lean. I shimmed it with a washer.

The mount itself is great. The cable was just the right length for my application. However, the eyelet for the cable was too small to fit over the stud on the mount. I ended up being forced to replace it with a larger one. Not a big deal for me, but some buyers may not be handy with a soldering iron.

Excellent product, shipped in OE box with all sealed bags. Couldnt love it as it didnt work for the application I was hoping it would. I did end up using the cable with a new mount.

I bought these (2) for mounting my CB and Scanner Antennas without having to drill holes in the body of my truck. Theyre mounted on the back side of my truck bed tool box and they kept me from running a separate ground wire. Mated to the firestick purchased at the same time and hooked to the new Uniden sideband, I was able to obtain a 1 to 1 match on both channels 1 and 40. Easy to install, very clean look and Id buy them again. Thanks Amazon and Firestick!
