> 3 dayBought this for my 8 month old son. I know this product is recommended for 18 months plus, however, I was anxious to find out if my first born was a prodigy. He was not. This product is of good quality and sound. The string that connects the mallet is of decent length for a child to help reduce tangling and keeping the mallet from getting lost, but can be hindering to an adult that is trying to express themselves musically. My child primarily keeps the mallet in his mouth and once in a while accidentally lets it drop on the xylophone causing it to make sounds. I, on the other hand, have learned Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Black Sabbaths Iron Man.

> 3 dayOverall the product is good a serves the purpose. However one small difference from the one I had growing up (other than mine was made of wood!) The one I had played sounds when pulled. This does not. Overall good sturdy product and the string is short enough to prevent your little one from choking. The short string does make it a little more difficult to use. But in today’s lawsuit happy world a necessity. The difficulty measure is the reason for 4 stars. Understandable but that’s my view.

> 3 dayThis toy is so fun for my son. I’d be lying if my husband and I also don’t find it fun to play with. (My husband can play songs on demand on this thing) it’s a great toy for kids to make noise but not be too loud.

> 3 dayReasonable price for tried and true kids gift. Granted, it isnt as heavy as the one from my youth (never mind that era) which makes it easier to handle, maneuver, and potentially keep it from becoming a weapon while the tot flings it around (hahaha). The string attaching the drum stick is too short to get solid sound on xylophone - probably to avoid a strangulation hazard. I removed the drum stick from the string which allows for better sound. You can always reattach if tot wants to drag it around in the wheels. Nice gift!!

> 3 dayThis toy is a total hit with my 13 month old daughter. Shes been obsessed with anything and everything even remotely musical since she was a wee little one (5 months). I had to show her a few times how to play it but she quickly caught on and plays with it on a daily basis now. All of the keys seem to be perfectly tuned. But honestly, even if they were not, this wouldnt be a big deal to me at such a young age. Come on. This Xylophone is very well built and has held up amazingly well to my rough daughter. She drags, drops and pounds this thing to death and it still looks and functions like brand new. When I first opened this, my daughter couldnt hit the keys because the cord was restricting her movements with the mallet. The only way she could hit the keys is if I guided the mallet for her. I grabbed a pair of scissors and cut the cord. Problem solved. I dont know why people are complaining. Its a safety issue if the cord were any longer! The mallet never leaves our house, so Im not worried about it getting lost. Just cut the cord, and let that mallet loose. Overall, I highly recommend. This is a staple that every baby/toddler should have.
