I got this for my youngest son for Christmas. He has loved it since he opened it. Even his nearly 3 year old brother adores it. At our family Christmas party, I got to see my youngest and his cousin hovering over it, trying to play with it together. The only issue that Ive noticed is the cord for the mallet is a little too short. My kids have gotten frustrated trying to hit the end pieces, because you can really only do it from one direction. They want to have more free motion with it. The only way to give them that free range of motion is to cut the cord, but then they lose the mallet. Thats the whole point of the cord. While that has been a little frustrating for them, they still love the toy, and it gets played with quite a bit in our house.

This xylophone is a great concept - the wand is attached to a string so it doesnt get lost. The string is too short though. It can only play a tune if its positioned just right. Too hard for a toddler to figure out. Maybe just an inch or two more in length and it would be perfect. Now, pretty useless.

This is a cute and well made toy. It’s a classic. However, the string is 8” long; ridiculously short. It can’t comfortably reach the keys at the far end. What is the point in a musical toy that can’t be played? We will have to lengthen the string before gifting it. Not happy.

I had one of these as a kid and I was very excited to get one for my daughter. But the string is so small, which makes it hard to use the product. I’m sure the string length has to do child safety, but it still makes the product hard to use. We ended up cutting the string off entirely so now it’s two separate pieces.

Heh, heh, heh...the ultimate grandparents gift to a toddler! Its colorful, its extremely well-made as are all Fisher-Price toys & its loud :) I have vivid memories to this day of when my sons grandma and grandpa gave him his first Fisher-Price xylophone & it quickly became a favorite. It lasted through several other kids & I do believe he regifted it to a family member 25 yrs. later as soon as his own daughter grew out of it & into a keyboard. Now his son will have one, too. Sonny cant complain, as hes very big on family traditions. LOL

The only complaint I have is that the string isnt long enough for my 22 month old to pull the xylophone.
