The meter I received reads woefully low on all DC ranges, and I have numerous precision lab DMMs and voltage standards against which I can draw a rather solid frame of reference.

Bought this for a friend who is not too savvy in electrical measurements. Its simple to use and accurate. I thought the capacitance measurement was a bonus. In the past this was not standard on a multi meter.

My only wish is that it had a back light, but I have a Fluke 179 that does have the back light.

Its form factor is truly pocket sized. Continuity function is faster than the 106 which is one of the main things that i need a pocket meter for. No current function not a big deal for me as i would probably have a clamp or bench meter if i need to measure current.

My old multimeter died and I looked at my old favorite Fluke meters but the price tag for a new Fluke 87 was too much for my fixd income so I looked at other models and the mdel 101 stood out for both price and features. For less than $50 the meter is a compact and full featured instrument that feels solid but doesnt break th bank. It is made in China aad doesnt come with a case. For the electronics hobbyist or DIYer, it has all of the features you need. Its auto ranging and measures voltage, resistance, capacitance and frequency but omits current. I usually read current from the power supply but if you need to measure amperage you probably want a different meter.

For as long as I have been in the electrical field (30 yrs), Fluke has been THE meter to have. Rugged, reliable...everything an electrician could ask for and nothing more. This 101 series meter is exactly that. The leads, however, are not. In nearly all respects, they are identical to the leads that Fluke has used for years, but it seems they have changed to ones of inferior quality. No longer made of the more supple, easily wrapped material, these behave like so many new plastic cords now do. Even at room temperature, they are remarkably stiff. They appear to have permanent kinks in them as if they were coiled up straight out of the warm extruder. On top of this, theyre crazy long. Im not sure where Fluke thought we would wrap up 48 of test leads, especially on a nice, compact little meter like this. In the end, dont hesitate to buy this meter, but be prepared to spend another $25 for replacement leads that are of a sensible length and more flexible.
