Freud 42-116: 1/2 (Dia.) Bearing Flush Trim Bit

> 24 hourIve been using this on a Bosch router table to put a straight edge on my lumber. Once I got the router table set up perfectly I used this to plane about 400 linear feet of various grades of lumber. I then took the router off the table and used this to cut out an undermount sink in a 1 1/2 oak butcher block counter top. That really pushed this bit to its max, but it gave me a great finish. You need a decent router to get the most out of this and the other Freud bits.

> 24 hourThe router bit is fine. Very good value for the prices. Getting the packaging open was a bit of a challenge. The secret bing that you need to cut the label that covers up the separation seam.

> 24 hourI own dozens of Freud router bits and this is the first one I’ve ever been disappointed with. The bearing diameter and the cutter diameter don’t match. The bearing is a little bigger so you end up with a 1/64” lip. On a shorter bit the lip wouldn’t be such a big deal but I needed almost the full two inches so it took quite a bit of sanding to flush the two end grain faces. On the bright side the bit was sharp and cut great.

> 24 hourI used these to trim edge of sink Cut out to make flush with sinks in butcher block projects. I normally use two bits we have been doing it for 7 years the same way, jigsaw cut to about 1/4 and trim the final flush with the bit. I bought these in hopes of saving g some money from the other brand we use. Well lets just say they creat more cost then ever. The first one dulled befor doing one side of the sink. I thought of they just arent that sharp. I places the second bit and the bearing blow, chipped the sink and took a chunk out of the edge. I had to remove the sink, get it glazed and then we had to reinstall split the difference and ended up with a 1/8 revile instead of a flush set edge. I tossed the other bits as amazon would not let me return them. Stick to good brands the cost of a good bit is worth more then you think.

> 24 hourUnbelievable precision, makes routing fun. I am a true believer in Freud now, after going through a few of the cheaper options on amazon, I gave this one a try and will never go back. I used this bit to make a straight edge on 1.5 inch thick slab , and I have to say it was the sharpest edge Ive ever seen. It easily handled itself even when I tested it with a good 1/4inch edge over bottom guide. It was so smooth that I barely had to secure the bottom guide slab, which often required several clamps when I used inferior bits.

> 24 hourExcellent bit. Very sharp. No tear out in soft or hard wood as long as dont rush it. Makes duplicating parts in 3/4 stock a breeze. Clamp 2 pieces together along with a 1/4 template and knock out two at a time.

> 24 hourUsually Freud makes good stuff. This time it didn’t work out. The end bearing flew off after 30 minutes of use. i actually took the time to check the retainer screw and make sure it was tight before using it.

> 24 hourFreud has lived up to their great reputation. This bit will be used to make an arch fill above a door in an brick house. I made a template from a 1 x 4 and let the bearing ride the template to form the 2 x 4s for the fill. This will ensure a perfect arch shape on every piece. Ive used shorter bits like this before on thinner boards with great results.

> 24 hourMore expensive than many competitors but very reliable quality.
