> 3 dayGot the Garmin InReach Mini for a 7 night backpacking trip in the Eastern Sierra. Wanted to be able to receive weather updates and to be able to call for help if needed. Did not have to use the SOS function but it brought piece of mind to myself, my hiking buddies and my girlfriend (who was not with us) just in case someone got hurt. The texting function on the device was a little difficult to figure out but you can sync with your phone and text like normal. Super easy. Lightweight and compact. Battery lasted 5 days or so and it charged up quickly with the battery pack I brought. Very happy with the purchase!

Greater than one weekHad to get it replaced by Garmin, new unit works marginally better. Only uses GPS and only turns on for short periods to conserve battery, so it can take 2-20 minutes for a fix and a message send, I think thats bad for an SOS device. It does connect ANT or bluetooth, so it should use the phones or watches GPS position if available (and probably uses multiple GPS systems for a faster lock)

> 3 dayI used this Garmin inReach Mini for hiking Larapinta NT Australia recently and it was brilliant, weather was handy to have on hand and we used the text via Earthmate App to communicate for other hikers who couldnt communicate with their support crew. I knew if I fell and hurt myself badly that help was always going reached via satelite signal and my family could follow along on MapShare to see where I had got to and message me if necessary. Best invention ever in a 100gm package!

> 3 dayBluetooth would not connect for normal use. The only time it would make a connection was during the pairing routine

> 3 dayBought for a friend who is planning a big hiking trip this year. She was so happy to receive it as it was the item she will need to keep in touch with her family at all times. It was small and light to carry and is perfect for her needs.

> 3 dayWe used this in alaska and found the phone interface to be unintuitive and clunky. Then when my credit card expired, instead of just cutting it off when the payment didnt process, they kept the service on and then sent the 65 dollar charge (which became $81.19) to a collection agency after 30 days . I will be selling this device on eBay and will be sure to never purchase another garmin product in the future.

> 3 dayMy loved ones use this to keep track of me when Im away from civilization. For me, the battery lasted on a four-day trip and I didnt turn it off. In hindsight, I could have turned it off at night, when I wasnt moving. Its a tiny device and has three buttons (not counting the power button and the SOS button), so the messaging interface is laborious. Common functions (turning on, locking the screen, starting/stopping tracking) are easy to access. Other functions quickly become annoying. For my needs (sending breadcrumbs, and hopefully SOS that Ill never need), it works great, is light, and is compact.

> 3 dayWhat an awesome product! I had been hesitant for some time about making the purchase, but now that I own the Garmin In-Reach, I am very pleased. Literally every place I go hiking is remote and has zero cell reception.

> 3 dayI go into the mountains alot, with not cel service. This product gives me and my family peace of mind knowing that I have a form of communication when out in the wilderness.
