I had built a custom very heavy duty trailer not long after hurricane Ivan and due to a major shortage of any form of metal available at that time I decided to use a very strong 2inch square tubing . Very thick and heavy. I made the tailgate system also with this heavy duty framework and the estimated weight of the tailgate is approx 175 pounds if not more. I have dreaded having to use the ramp due to several herniated disks in my back and would always require someone to help me with raising and lowering the gate. I had seen this system on another trailer and liked the fact that it is very simple and particularly liked that it does not detract from the design of my custom trailer. I decided to purchase this and installed it immediately. I am a contractor and my work involves hauling many things and so needed a fairly heavy duty trailer. I can now lift my trailer gate up or down literally with one finger . I could not believe it at first just what a difference this system could make. I only wish I had known about this years ago ! It is a real life changer for me ! If you have back issues or wish to avoid serious injuries to your back this is no doubt the way to go ! It is priced very reasonably , very well constructed and took approx two hours to install . I must say you folks have done an excellent job by creating a tool that can really change lives in a very positive way ! I will be gladly recommending this system with those that I see in the work trade that still are struggling with the same burden as I had for so many years ! I cant say enough other than a big THANK YOU !

This item its extremely strong. The only bad thing about this is the pulling wires are so tiny. Not sure it they will last that much.

This will definitely save your back. Easy to lift and lower.

All trailer manufacturers dont seem to turn the angle iron on the tailgate the same way so if you buy the lift handle you will have to adjust the instructions to fit your trailer. If using the extension rollers the instructions dont show which way to install the rivets or how far apart the roller extension and lift arm should be. An email to Gorilla lift solved both issues within 24 hours and I was able to complete installation the day after delivery.

This is an awesome piece of equipment! I recently had a close call with my trailer gate almost slipping out of my greasy hands with my feet directly below and in the line of fire. Had the gate slipped out of my hands, both feet would have broken or worse damage by this 200lb. gate! This gate assist is a back saver and as well as a must have safety devise. Following instructions is an easy install. Recommend a good sharpe metal drill bit. Encountered an issue with a bolt hole inline with a fender well; but resolved it with a shorter bolt from local hardware store. Only would ask seller to throw in shorter bolts also for us trailer owners with angle iron rails as I now need to cut off excess bolts used. Paying a few dollars more for eight more bolts is worth the hassle of now having to cut the bolt excess off. Simply fantastic product for the price! If you don’t have a set, get one!!! You won’t be sorry!

I needed something to allow me to continue using my utility trailer that has a heavy ramp/tailgate. The Gorilla Lift did the trick but it was pretty difficult to install on my round pipe rails. This was all made more difficult by the fact that I’m 75 and have a partially paralyzed hand. Once completed it works very well and I recommend it for us senior citizens. I had to purchase longer bolts to go through the pipe rail but that was the only problem.

Hardware is universal. Bolts and fasteners were extremely long. Used my own bolts.

I have trouble with lift springs being too strong to allow tailgate to drop down. I have extra heavy tailgate but springs keep it from dropping down past half way. Have to push completely to ground.

Instructions seem to be very intimidating to look at and read. I went to the Trusty YouTube and I found all kind of videos on installing the Gorilla lift there. The time I wasted trying to read them is all it took to install it on my Trailer. I bought a 2019 Carry on and when it comes to drilling the holes go ahead and save yourself a trip back and buy the Good Drill Bits to begin with. My tail gate weighs right at 75 lbs and stands 4 feet tall and is 5 feet 5 inches wide. I have a bad back and thought I was going to have to sell my new trailer before I got started. After a lil research I found the Gorilla Lift and I thought there was no way it works like the video. Got it on and the tail gate would not stay down. I had to unhook 1 spring on both sides to get my gate to stay down. Sure enough I can use 1 finger to lower it or lift it. I am good to go and I get to keep my trailer now. Mine is installed on a 3 inch round tube and not on a flat surface. I had to buy 8 - 3 1/2 inch bolts to replace the 2 1/2 inch ones that came with it. That was a dislike but it was made to work so I am happy on that The front part of the lift has a 2 inch square where the springs hold to and it looked a lil sloppy so I bought the 2 inch squares off of Amazon and slipped them right on. Looks good and it is in Great shape for my hauling needs. I could have used one of them to do the job at hand but I was concerned about my Tail Gate Twisting by doing so... Highly Recommend is a Back Saver and it adds value to your Trailer
