Greater than one weekI noticed that my Kohler (K-4436-AA) toilet would start running randomly throughout the day when it wasnt in use. Reading online it seems that a common problem for running toilets is that the canister seal becomes brittle over time and need to be replaced. There are some great videos on YouTube showing the replacement process for the canister flush valve seal. FYI, The replacement seal is a yellow color while the original seal is red, the product packaging shows that new seal is meant to replace the original red seal. During the seal installation, I confirmed that the yellow seal is indeed a perfect replacement for the original red seal. Additionally, since installing the replacement seal I havent noticed the toilet running randomly anymore. Im hoping that this permanently fixes my running toilet if I notice its running again there is most likely another issue causing the water running.

> 3 dayI moved to a new place and the toilet was shut off as it was leaking water. I had not seen the toilet yet and thought it was a normal one so I bought a repair kit and found the toilet was very different from any I had seen before. It did not have a standard flapper so the repair kit would not work. I looked up the brand and model number and found out it used a ring gasket to seal the cylinder. I could not find one in town as all that was available were standard flappers. I found the right gasket here and it installed without a problem after watching a YouTube video on how to remove the cylinder. The old gasket was gooey and sticky but came off and cleaned up without much difficulty. The new seal is working so far with no more running water.

> 3 dayWe have relatively new Kohler toilets, and none of them work very well. The biggest problem of all, however, has been these O-rings wearing out. Each toilet has one, and so we keep a few of these replacements on hand. Watch a YouTube video or two to see how to remove the old, worn-out O-ring and install this new one. Be patient, and be careful to not force any of the parts when taking them apart, because they all are made of cheap plastic. Remember the old days when Kohler built everything with iron and steel parts?

> 3 dayFor me, getting the chain off of the cylinder took a while. Gasket works. I took a leap of faith that this part would fit my Kohler toilet. Whew, it did.

> 3 dayThe ring gasket it replaced was allowing a significant leak in my toilet tank despite no apparent damage. This causing my water softener to go through regeneration cycles approximately 3 times as often. I installed the new ring gasket and no more water leakage. Saving $20/month in softener salt.

> 3 dayMy toilet was constantly making that refill noise. And yes the issue was the worn out ring causing leaks. Instead of changing out the whole flushing kit, I first decided to give this a try. And glad I did! Cheaper and easier to install quickly. And the problem solved!

> 3 dayThis seal took five minutes to install, and it fixed my constantly running toilette problem. A new Kohler fixture that in less than a year developed the running water problem. Now its one of the new efficiency models, so I could not run out and drop a conventional Fluidmaster replacement in. I asked my plumber( as he was replacing the old cast iron under my kitchen sink) about it; sounds like a bad seal to me his reply. I matched that with the diagram on the web and concluded it was worth a shot. But, Im not going to run all over town looking for a seal that only fits a specific make and model. Amazon has never let me down,so type the part number from the Kohler manual in the search box and bam; six bucks at my door in two days (Prime Member). Next one click. Installed it in five minutes and my water headache was gone. For the dollars involved one of the best purchases I have ever made. My praise is not for Kohler but for Amazon in saving me gas, time and the fear of having to pay a plumber for something that in the older models was a easy fix.
