I needed light weight for backpacking, tried titanium , all sucked, just get this. its large enough for a real cup of coffee and is still light weight

This GSI backpacker mug is one of my favorite peices of backpacking equipment. I easily pop the cup out of the sleeve to measure water for my freeze dried meals. It keeps my hot drinks hot. The handle takes no space and works great for clutzy me. The lid stays on well. I have used it to prep real oatmeal in the evening and let it soak (upright) in both bear cans and hanging food bags. I have put both the sleeve and cup separately in the upper rack of my dish washer. I dont notice flavor funk on it. Uber lightweight. So much better than using my pan as a coffee cup.

I really like this mug. Its light and easy to clean. The insulated cozy does a pretty good job of keeping my coffee warm, and I really like the flexible handle. One thing I will note is that I drink out of it with my whole hand through the handle, gripping the mug itself. I have very small hands, so the handle actually allows me to hold the cup comfortably without worrying that Ill lose my grip on it. The lid seals surprisingly well for a non-screw on lid. I have to make sure the drinking tab is open when I put the lid on with the mug full of hot coffee because otherwise the air pressure wont let me put it on all the way. Ive done some trials of turning it upside down full of hot coffee and not a drop of leakage! Ive noticed that when I first got it, the cup sat very, very snugly in the cozy, but over a few weeks of use its loosened up. One reviewer said that they clipped it onto the outside of their pack and then the cup fell out and they lost it, and I agree that that is a danger. I think Im going to add a bit of nylon webbing with a patch of velcro on either end to loop over the lid, so that I can clip it to the outside of my pack without worries. However, it also fits perfectly in the side water bottle pockets of both of my packs... so maybe itll just live there. Love how much liquid it holds and it looks cool. Also, the plastic of the mug itself doesnt seem to take on the smell of what was in it, which I really appreciate.

Exactly what I was needing! Very light weight and keeps coffee warm! The lid is very tight and the cap is secure! Didnt even drip when it is turned upside down!

Keeps my drink nice and warm. Nice wide base and light Weight.

Used for camping: Burning Man, Big Sur. Holds a fair amount of liquid. Kept beverages cool for a few hours within desert heat. Lightweight and sturdy enough to be tossed around (literally) a tad. Did have slight leakage issues, but for the most part, liquids stayed inside the container - withstanding bicycle rides, climbing, and dancing.

Really like but wish there was an 8 ounce version.

F***ing LOVE this mug!! Very lightweight and really keeps your coffee warm for an insanely long time. I’ve found I actually have to leave the top cover off in order to let it cool down to drinking temperature, which is a great problem to have! It has markings on the cup to use as a measuring cup as well. I would never leave my house on a hiking trip without this!!

Not really insulated, but still does good job of keeping coffee hot. Super light. Great lid and feels great in hand.

This mug is so great for backpacking... it has measurements on it, it stayed warm for hours in 40 degree weather!!
