Picked one of these printers up because I wanted a printer in my family room, where I do most of my computer work. Most of what I looked at seemed to be a few metal parts and lots of cheap plastic. When I picked up the HP Envy printer, I immediately felt the difference. Heavy and solid construction. The looks of the printer are unlike any other I have seen. It looks more like a DVD player than a printer. It fits into my living area, while other printers looked like office equipment - not what I wanted in my family room. Unboxing the unit showed that the packaging was high quality and the printer had its own bag keeping it safe from scratches. Hookup consisted of plugging in the electric cable and turning the printer on. From there, the printer guided me through the setup, including telling me when to insert the ink cartridges and how to set up the wireless connection. The only thing I needed to have was my network security password, as I have a secured Wi-fi network. Connected to the network 1st time after I keyed in the password. Installing the software on my computer was quick and easy. No surprises, but HP does load their installation with a bunch of junk you probably dont want. Just deselect anything you dont want installed. Everything works fine. Usual good quality prints and scans. The printer found some firmware updates and asked me if I wanted them installed. I did and they went in without any problem. Same for an update to the computer software for the printer. This printer uses two ink cartridges - black and a color. I like this approach as the cartridge design has the print heads in the cartridge. Change inks and you get a new print head each time. I have used several other brands of ink jet printers that have permanent print heads as part of the printer. These always tend to clog for me, over time. With the HP cartridge design used here, I have never had bad prints, or clogged print heads on the other Photo printer I have from HP. Ive also used HP inkjets at work for years and they just print - day in and day out. Some find a benefit to having separate ink cartridges for each color. Ive had two printers with this arrangement and found that I was replacing the various colors at about the same time. The extra parts just amounted to extra things that could go wrong, and added cost. The HP Envy printer has some neat features like the touch screen and the retractable paper catcher. While neat features, they seem to be likely problem areas down the road (after the mfg warranty expires), so I bought an extended warranty on the printer - giving me 4 years of coverage. Hope this printer works long term as good as it looks out of the box. HP did a great design job, integrating an office device into a home environment.

I bought this for my RV. Easy to print with iphone and ipads using HP the free eprint app. No extra wires is just the trick for my RV. I keep my printer at home till we travel and while there I can attach most anything to my printer email address and print it from anywhere. To set this up with an email address you must follow the on screen prompts on the printer itself and then go to the HP website to register and create your personalized eprint email address. Works well.

item did not work. I returned it and was told that the serial number did not match the serial number on the product. I am still waiting for it to be returned to me, as they are not reimbursing me.

Establishing connectivity with our laptop, iPhones, and iPad on the wireless network at home was fairly easy. The CD wizard that came with the unit was extremely helpful. We enjoy having the wireless printing capability on one floor of our home and the laptop, iPhones, and iPad on another level. We have not yet tried the scanning, copying, and eFaxing capability, but the HP e-print and AirPrint works quite well. Cartridges are expensive, but we do not use this unit as our primary printer. Free Amazon delivery was faster than promised.

Printer looks great and does everything as advertised. Connecting wirelessly was a cinch. On regular paper colors are not vibrant. For its size it is a dynamo.

Love this printer...Am able to print to it directly from my iPhone and iPad, as well as from my PC ...all transmitted wirelessly. My only complaint would be the price of the cartridges which are small and need changing frequently which is also a cost factor. However, the cost of all hp cartridges is expensive unless you use the re-fillable ones or the remanufactured ones. The color printing is very good. The size and design of the printer is great.

I bought this to have in my motor home. It is basically the size of the old VHS players. It also loads paper through the front and you would only need to remove it from a cabinet if you wanted to copy/scan a document. As it is wireless, you can print from you laptop or even from you portable device (iPhone, iPod, etc) using AirPrint or HP ePrint. You can also view and print pictures from you camera card with it. Super product with tons of apps.
