You have to download a separate genie app =- and it is not compatible with homekit either

I had to update the capacity of an outdoor outlet in a backyard planter to add more capacity. It previously operated a landscape lighting transformer and a waterfall style fountain that was operated with a manual switch. I was adding some sport court lighting and needed an additional outlet. I picked up this product and it not only provided the additional capacity, but I was able to tie in the sport court lighting with other previously existing lights that I was able to control with Alexa, plus I was able to add smart control of the fountain, which is a nice upgrade. Setup was easy, very standard for this type of product. So far, it is working as expected and holding up in the outdoor elements.

I will eat the second one and not order any more.

Function and value are mostly OK, but I expected energy monitoring in the new Flow brand, and it’s much less valuable in an apple home. If it’s not Apple compatible, that raises security and privacy concerns.

The outdoor plug is very easy to setup. One mistake I made was thinking it would use the IHome app which it does not. The instructions point to the geeni app. This is not a negative on the product but something to be aware of. After setup I am able to link it to Alexa and control each outlet in the plug individually. The plug looks well made and my problems so far. When placing this plug it will need to go on the bottom outlet plus must hang off the floor. If you place plug on the floor or upside down in the elements the plug will get damaged since it is not designed to work in that position. Would have rated as outstanding except that the app (geeni) I does NOT allow for the older model iHome plugs. So you either use two apps (geeni and iHome) or buy all new plugs. Bad feature.

IHome was great for automating some of my Christmas lights. I scheduled the lights to turn on at four and turn off at 10 PM and it does it on a dime very easily. At first it was a bit difficult to sync the plug in the app but there was some connectivity issues but it did after a couple of tries. The Geeni app is very intuitive and very easy to use. It was very easy to find the Geeni Alexa skill and it worked flawlessly. I can give voice commands to Alexa and she’ll turn them on and off whenever I want but the scheduling works on top of that. So this was great. This is located on my deck and I live close to Seattle so it’s always raining and I haven’t run into any issues yet.

With geeni, it sees it as 2 switches. But with Alexa, its just 1 switch for both plugs. Not worth it.
